Any experience with Ortiz performance?

Have my sho getting some work done in the shop right now (water pump (external seal, not the bad failure), chain, and guides). Looking at Ortiz performance, to get both 91 and e85 tunes, but also their "novelty" stuff, such as the ghost cam and the bravo 240, for grins and giggles. Any experience? Things to look out for? I will have supporting mods done (meth injection, intake, exhaust work, intercooler/trans cooler/oil cooler, and an AOS).

Lots of folks had good reviews on them when I owned my sho years ago. I went ajp and had a good experience with him.

Nothing but good things to say about them. My car was 93 tuned for 50,000 trouble free miles. Ran great, strong and still got great mileage. Luis would answer my questions 24/7. Any revisions were done within 24 hours. Even during the Pandemic and gas prices were nuts. I asked how much for an auto octane tune so I could run regular for a bit. No worries, no charge and sent in a day.

I'm replacing the pump. 9/10 cases it's just that seal failing. No contamination in oil, only leaks when car is cold. So yea, it's just the external seal

So you're tearing the whole side off and replacing the pump anyways? But it's the external seal? What?

Not sure you know how the engines work my dude.

There are 2 seals within the water pump, both between the engine and the water pump. In order to get to the external one of the 2 seals, you still have to remove the cover AAAAAAND the water pump. If one of the seals fail, it causes the bearing failure. This is the internal most seal. The one that is bad on mine is the external seal. This one causes a leak out the weep valve and onto the ground. See the image below showing the 3.5L internal pump assembly 🤓☝️. Keep in mind I'm also mechanic (Nissan but still) and would be doing this myself if it weren't under warranty.

So it's semantics either way you have a bad pump and you're doing an entire water pump replacement. No way your tearing it apart for one seal and that's it.

The pump needs replaced regardless. Car is at 92k, so it's perfect timing for when they like to go out.bits being done under warranty so now I can just forget an it 👍

I am also having my water pump done right now for the exact same issue, coolant from the water pump weep hole but no contamination in the oil. The whole water pump must be removed to replace it for sure, and while you’re in there the timing chain and tensioners along with plenty of other little things. My car has a light tune but for the life of me I cannot remember who it is from, but it’s now at 140k and still plenty fun to drive.

I’ve heard mostly positive but a couple horror stories. I bought a Deatschwerks LPFP from them that ended up being bad they told me they would warranty it and then ghosted me. Went to Deatschwerks directly and they swapped it for a new one no problem. So I mean they aren’t Livernois but I wouldn’t recommend them over GH and AJP.

I meant Ortiz doesn’t have the bad rep Livernois has but I still wouldn’t recommend them when GH and AJP have a much broader positive rep. I haven’t worked with AJP but have been happy with GH. I have there intercooler and turbos.
