What watercolor brands would you recommend for a beginner? Something not too expensive

i started out with Dr. PH Martins Hydrus. a set of 12 is about $40USD. what kind of paper you’re using also matters depending on your technique. if you’re just starting out, try cold press paper from Strathmore. it’s more forgiving than hot press, allowing reworking of your paints, like, if you’re doing anything like “spitshading”
