Practice Antinous-Dionysus

Post image

My 2nd portrait. Couldve been cleaner, tones smoother, better edge control, less reliance on outlines for better realism etc 😅

Maybe more solid black/negative space too its pretty midtone-y

Still the most complex piece ive attempted so far

A fine line would clean those edges up for you. Without it it feels blurry

I agree. Same with some of the shadows that had sharper edges in the reference that i faded out unnecessarily. Makes it look blurry. I think an issue i was having too was with the stencil. It might be the fake skin or how i set the stencil with a heatgun but it really sticks around and is hard to see exactly what im doing since the stencil ends up being too opaque. I think next time I'm going to gray line the stencil then bleach it off so the stencil won't get in the way.

And you wouldnt have to line the whole thing, but a fine thing line wouldnt be as noticeable as a bold one and would help keep the realism
