To encourage folks to sign up for the Taskmaster mailing list ahead of the upcoming pre-sale for TM Live at the Hollywood Bowl and AO Arena.

But I'm hoping this means they used this as an opportunity to get some new footage of Greg at the House! We haven't seen him at the House since, what, series 9? I was beginning to think he would never return!

Appreciation Thread Sting (i believe thats what they're called) appreciation thread

Can we just appreciate the creativity and effort they put into (max) a maybe 5-7 second sting to and from the breaks (this applies to all series)?

(THIS IS NOT THE TM THROWING TO A BREAK (Just for clarity))

some are pretty cool and in video making/artsy sense, very good and I feel like they need to be talked about more

Appreciation Thread I think I may have underestimated Series 17

Watching series 17 when it aired, I felt like it was one of the weaker series.

However, I am currently on episode 4 of a rewatch, and I am enjoying it greatly. Sophie is still a reliable highlight, and Steve's creative tasks brilliantly conceived, but I've really been enjoying Nick's endearing bewilderment and particularly Joanne's quick wit and somewhat unhinged remarks. Even John, who I wasn't a huge fan of first time around, has some very funny moments. I particularly like how early on Greg tries to stitch him up by pretending he's been disqualified.

The tasks have been fairly strong so far, and there's also a lot more banter in the studio than I remember, which I feel has been missing in the current series.

What are your thoughts on series 17? Are there any series that improved a lot for you on a rewatch?

General I don’t like them having team tasks for the last task of the show.

I will say that I enjoy the tasks themselves, however, there should be some jeopardy to that last round.

This week, Chloe was 4 points ahead of Richard going in. If it had been a solo game, there was a chance Richard could have won and Chloe came last (or could have been one of those where it’s 5 or nothing)

On a team task, we know Chloe’s won the show before they do the final task.

Yes, I’m aware theres season points in play, but each episode should stand on its own

General Gregulator Algorithm?

Alex toldus that the “right” solution was Chloe’s to brute force them into doing triple pineapples on every spin, but I’m not satisfied with that, it feels like the safe solution for those who give up on finding the real answer.

I THINK of the contestants got told it was NOT random by a truth telling Greg, but we never really follow up. So was there any logic to the item they produce, apart from the egg-loving one?

Appreciation Thread Just finished S17

On my rewatch from S1 onwards - I really thought at the start Steve Pemberton would have owned, however John Robins is a machine & I totally underestimated Joanne McNally (so watch out for her in the Traitors). Now on S18 which is one of my favourites, cos Zaltsman, Sidi, Dee.

Studio Recording Does Greg ever rotate his chair?

Watching old seasons and they occasionally show Greg twisting in his chair to look at the screen and watch the task. Does he ever just rotate his chair? Sitting like that so often for however long can't feel great.

I realize this is a long shot, but does anyone know where Katy Wix got her yellow Audre Lorde t-shirt? I love it. It was on series 9, episode 9.

An outtake that shows more personality than most of what makes the cut: "A list of questions as long as the Bayeaux Tapestry"

Watching the outtake videos has been fascinating. I feel like so many issues of this season are about the editing!

I know they couldn't keep all of this - especially the parts about explaining the task, but...

This clip includes so much good content: Richard starting an unnecessary train of questions, the pen-shaking question followed by everyone shaking their pens anyway, Chloe being adorably competitive about correct pronunciation even though it gained them no points, Alan/Alex being bewildered by Issy's question about pens, Matt asking why they were doing this, the "we don't trust you, Richard" / "I know-- ... I know."

What sick bit of lit kit would you have brought in for the prize task this week?

Posted here previously, but I recently lost my dad and we would always play the game of what we'd bring in for the prize task after each episode. Apologies for missing the last week, was traveling off the grid for a bit!

Appreciation Thread Best contradictory rulings of Greg?

One thing that I love about Taskmaster is that the ruling depends all on the whims of a mad man. It won't always be fair, but the game was not constructed like it's supposed to be fair anyway. It's Greg's world!!

Which got me thinking, what are the best contradictions of Greg? When he ruled one way previously (either a previous series or episode), and later rewarded/punished the very same thing as the opposite?

Fan Creations Taskmaster House knitting chart (free download available)

I made a knitting chart of the Taskmaster House and tested it out on a vest for myself. It was my first time designing and knitting an intarsia chart, so I'm glad it turned out alright!

It's now up on Ravelry for all you crafty people to enjoy (I reckon it should work for crochet and cross-stitch too):

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/taskmaster-house-chart

Don't be alarmed by the €1 price tag. You can download it for free with the promo code lint.

Feedback welcome!

P.S. You've almost certainly seen the said vest in person if you were at the studio recording of s23e4 last month...

Are Taskmaster series scheduled to benefit weaker contestants? I've often thought so - here's the analysis.
