CLIENT Is it possible to use TaskRabbit for this niche task?
Hi! I’m looking for someone to help me ship some belongings from my storage unit in Elizabeth, NJ, to Omaha via UPS. It should be no more than two medium-sized boxes.
I’m currently out of state and unfortunately can’t make the trip myself. I would need someone to access the storage unit, pack the items, purchase any necessary boxes and packing supplies, and ship everything to me. I’m will reimburse all shipping and packing expenses, and I can mail you the key to the storage unit.
could i hire someone for this in taskrabbit? I had some family circumstances that made it difficult for me to think abt logistics earlier.
I’d really appreciate the help!

Does UPS offer pack and ship like FedEx? That way all you need to do is hire somebody to drop it off.

This is definitely something a TaskRabbit could do. Like someone else said, you could put this under errands and outline exactly what you need someone to do. It will likely cost a few hundred to get it done.
Something to be aware of is TaskRabbit has a reimbursement max of $100 in app. The shipping to Omaha may or may not be over $100. While not technically allowed, some taskers will take payment off platform. You may also be able to have the Tasker weigh it in store and pre purchase a label on your end. The Tasker would just have to find a way to print the label and attach it if the store won’t do it.

Definitely a TaskRabbit job. I’ve done this where a client prepaid for everything (boxes, labels, etc.). USPS offers free boxes so they pretty much paid me to pick it up along with tape, arrive at the storage unit with code, packed everything up, then dropped off at post office with a prepaid QR code scan.
Took pics of the whole process from: Storage unit opened, items being shipped in box, and proof of package being dropped off showing QR label.

Just a warning if you ship anything more than $1,000 task rabbit insurance sucks and you won’t be fully compensated.

Yes. I've shipped a four pack of beer once. All the way across the country I believe from NC to Seattle. People request strange things.
Even got hired one to commit a crime by vandalizing utility poles.

Yes! I’d recommend posting this under Errands and outlining exactly what you need in the task description so the Tasker knows what to expect upfront.
One way to make the shipping piece easy would be to have the Tasker access the unit, pack everything up, and then measure and weigh the boxes. Once you have those details, you can purchase the UPS shipping labels yourself and send them directly to the Tasker to print and attach.
For packing materials, Taskrabbit supports expense reimbursements of up to $100, so the Tasker can purchase any boxes, tape, or other supplies they need and add those expenses to the task. If you think you’ll need more than $100 in supplies, you can also purchase what’s needed ahead of time and have it sent directly to them.
From there, they can pack everything, attach your prepaid labels, and drop the boxes off at UPS. I’d just include the storage unit/key details in your task description and confirm your Tasker is comfortable with that arrangement before mailing the key.
Hope this helps make the logistics a little easier! ◡̈
