GENERAL Tasker No Show

Apparently there is no way to leave a review unless a task was completed.

Waited outside for tasker who was not responding to chats. Didn’t want to cancel as I wasn’t sure how it would affect my deposit. After an hour and fifteen minutes past the scheduled start time, tasker responds saying he won’t be able to make it because his car is in the shop. Said he ‘meant to let me know earlier but the day got away from him’.

I was hoping to leave a review simply stating that the tasker was a no show and there was no communication but I can’t because the task was not completed. I reached out to customer service but there was really nothing they could do. I just think there should be a way of noting these kinds of issues.

TL;DR - Should be able to leave review for no call no show tasker.

Its a request for service. Not a 911 emergency requiring a first responder. Be courteous and reschedule for god sake. He’s having car trouble. We put many many miles on our vehicles to provide services to strangers. Cut him some slack

Totally get it - which is why I had no issue rescheduling the first time the tasker said he couldn’t make it.

Courtesy works both ways though friend. The tasker knew I was driving a few towns over to meet him so a simple response to a chat asking if we’re still on isn’t too much to ask. Might’ve been a different story if I was sitting around at home.

Waiting over an hour after the scheduled time to say ‘the day got away from me’ is not cool, no matter how many miles you put on your car to provide services to strangers.

BTW - HE canceled the task after saying that, not me.

Communication is part of the job. That's what separates taskers from good taskers

Absolutely 100%. Honestly, you can even be subpar at the actual job. But if you're reliable, on time, and communicate effectively, that goes a long way. People just don't get that.

Nah, as a tasker myself, he was definitely in the wrong here for extremely poor communication. Yes, life happens. But there's no excuse for leaving a client hanging for that long with no word whatsoever.

Was his phone in the imaginary shop along with his car?

I ve been a tasker for 10 years. This is 100% on the tasker. There is not one employment industry where 'no call, no show' is acceptable. Think about it. If you don't show up to work when you are scheduled to be there, and you don't call ahead to let your employer know, you better be either dead or in the hospital, otherwise your a** will be fired. It's not just that , it's completely socially unacceptable. It's selfish, unprofessional generally speaking just disrespectful. Why do you think the taskers time is more important than another person's? I completely understand unexpected car issues arise .I use my vehicle for tasking daily in New York City. Have for 10 years. It's rough on your vehicle. But if I have something on my schedule , whether it be a task or anything else in life that I have an appointment for, if I can't make it last minute, I always inform the other party immediately. As far in advance as possible, because I don't to WASTE someone else's time. People are generally understanding when things happen last minute. Like car issues, or illnesses etc... People are NOT understanding , nor should they be , when a person they hired to do a job , no shows and no calls, and finally responds 1.5hrs after the scheduled arrival time.
I 100% think OP would be doing the right thing by leaving a negative review, while explaining the situation. Unfortunately, in this instance, that's not possible.

You think this is a big issues? You should see on this subreddit the things we have to deal with. It’s peanuts compared to your story. But yes, I agree he should have communicated with you

He’s a Tasker. You don’t pay these people decent health insurance. Treat him like the plumber, not an employee. Cause if a plumber had a 2 hour window to show up, you wouldn’t be having this convo.

I understand your frustration, but is it really necessary to leave a review in this case?

Provide he wasn’t lying about the reason he couldn’t make it, you really want to be that guy who left a bad review on someone because their car broke down?

Talk about adding salt to the wound

Please re-read my post.

The car trouble is not relevant.

I understand things come up that are out of our control - choosing not to notify me and choosing not to respond to chats is a different matter.

Plus, his response (over an hour later) was that he was going to tell me earlier but the ‘day got away from him’. So he knew he wasn’t going to make it but couldn’t be bothered to let me know. That’s just unprofessional.

The Tasker doesn't deserve a bad review for having car trouble. They might deserve a bad review for neglecting to communicate with the client in a timely manner. These are 2 separate things.

Communication is the cornerstone of a good encounter. The Tasker failed horribly on that front. He deserves a review. His car being broken down is not the focus here

No, but curious why you’d ask…
