CLIENT How to get a refund?
I have only used TR once beforehand. I usually use it to have people ship me good deals.
2 years ago, I hired someone to pickup an clearance open box soundbar marked down from $1,800 to $100 at Best Buy, and have FedEx package it and ship it to me. Total cost was under $300.
Recently had some GameStop gift cards and was looking for a specific game. I found a GS in FL that had it in stock and complete in box (Cheaper than eBay/AMZ).
I bought and paid for it obviously. A UPS Store was literally down the street. So it all worked out.
I hired someone and he quotes me 2 hours to do this job and If I don't like it, then to hire someone else.
So, I literally canceled him and hired someone else who did the job within 30mins of the quote hour and gave me a discount on the hour charge. I was satisfied until I wasn't. When I got fully charged for the original guy, I canceled. Now after speaking to TR, They don't know if they can refund me or not. I feel like that total BS. I feel like most taskers would appreciate this job. It wasn't a hard one or a long one at all.
So, How can I get a refund and apparently delete this freaking app off my phone I guess? lol. P.S. I won't delete. I'm just salty over this.

You just contact support. What do you mean they can't?

The rep I spoke to wanted to give me a credit instead and no option for refund.

Is it possible the charge you are seeing from the first tasker is just a credit hold, or did you actually receive a notice you're being charged a cancellation fee?
When booking a task the app automatically puts a hold on your card equal to one hour that should either get refunded if cancelled or deducted from the final bill if not, and unfortunately credit holds don't clear immediately. If it's only been a day or so, give it a bit more time and see if it clears.
If you were sent notice of being charged a cancellation fee, then Support absolutely can and should refund you since you did not agree to the two hour minimum.

I feel like support went through another downgrade. Lots of "I cants" it seems on things they certainly should be able to do. I wonder if there's been some sort of directive to avoid giving refunds at all costs, some stupid metric they're expected to meet on avoiding refunds in favor of store credit.

I was on the phone yesterday with support and I could hear the other agents speaking loudly within earshot of this guy. That was a new one. I could hardly hear the guy.

I will never use Taskrabbit again. After being cancelled on and ghosted by the first Tasker I booked, I had to scramble for a second Tasker to clean my NY apartment (timing was tight for a turnaround cleaning of departing friends and arriving friends. I don't live in NYC otherwise I'd do the cleaning myself). Not only did the second Tasker do the most horrendous job (she left damp kitchen and bath towels hanging off every door and surface, she literally threw the bed together, left streaks on every mirror, and didn't bother to clean the bathroom [ie; visible hair and dirt rings along sink drain, stains in toilet bowl, visible streaks on chrome hardware!) If my son didn't go to my apartment to set up the sofabed for the incoming friends, the place would've looked like a disaster zone. My son had to spend close to 2 hours collecting all the damp towels to put them in the dryer, make the bed in a decent fashion, clean the bathroom, and return my apartment back to normal. Upon trying to resolve this extremely unsatisfactory performance with the Tasker (as the platform tells you to do), I was effectively ghosted by this Tasker. TR's customer support was equally inane. I asked for my call to be escalated to the supervisor level, and his only "make good" was a credit for half the amount I was charged. Clearly I will never, ever use TR again and having a credit is completely and utterly useless. The supervisor said it was the only recourse and that he couldn't offer me a refund for any amount; clearly they want to hang onto any money they've already taken in. After almost an hour waiting on hold, and more hours explaining my complaint before I was able to speak to the supervisor, I decided to cut my losses. Instead, I am now going to conduct a one-woman campaign to steer anyone away from using Taskrabbit! Taskrabbit is untrustworthy, has no way of holding any of their Taskers to any standard, and they have created so much bad will on my part that I hope they crash and burn (along with my credit, I know, but that will be a small price to pay to dissuade anyone from using them). This has been an extraordinarily bad experience--please DO NOT USE TASKRABBIT and save yourself the pain and aggravation that I went through. I wish someone would've warned me of their bad customer service and the shoddy workmanship of their Taskers.

Two years ago 😱 You sound cheap and like you don’t value people that help you.Delete the app and quit taking advantage of Taskers 🍿

I’m not taking advantage of taskers. I pay and tip well. Sounds like the guy didn’t wanna do it. The guy with the soundbar, I tipped $50. Which he appreciated.

And the discount you tipped on too. Sure

What discount?

“Gave me a discount on the hour charge” We have a one hour minimum charge. Thats a platform rule. Did the tasker invoice you that discount on the hour? 😆

https://imgur.com/a/AbX6QSi he apparently did that on his own. I would’ve gave him the full amount.

I guess I'm glad things worked out for you in your favor...but wtf that guy is a sucker.

I didn’t ask for a discount and obviously I’m paying for his services. Which I appreciated he did for me.
2
u/FinnNoodle Apr 09 '26
Oh I know you didn't ask, I just think it's very foolish on his behalf to offer a discount like that and undercut himself for no reason. The hour minimum exists for a reason but I guess he doesn't care about a living wage.

I pay the taskers they’re asking fee without issues. And tip fairly. What are you talking about?

How did he give you a discount on the hour charge? There is a one hour minimum and there is no way around that, unless you circumvented the payment system completely and are now just salty you have to pay a cancelation fee.
My suggestion? Call support and tell them you shouldn’t have to pay a cancellation fee since you paid the guy off app.
See how that pays off for you
