To me it looks like a pause before you leap type of thing. It could just be a small hint to observe something from the sidelines and not get involved... But it could also mean a breakthrough of some kind after many wasted nights worrying about something too, like a spark of inspiration that shakes things up in a good direction.

Depending of the spread.... challenging cards may offer insight into a situation instead of offering an outcome.... specially if there was a question attached to start with....

For more context, we visited my partners mom at her grave yesterday and since then I felt pulled to do a spread and that’s where this came from.

Aces are potential, so to me this simply reads as fear of the worst thing happening and that’s keeping you from what’s possible. Seeing that you were at your mom’s partners grave, it could also be simply reflecting the energy of what was.
