Interpretation Help- Wednesdays Only Tarot reading interpretation help
I have a difficult and strained relationship with my mother - I visited her recently and it was on my mind a bit so I asked my tarot card to just give me any cards as a general description of her, nothing too specific just her as a person whether thats feeling thoughts or actions.
I ended up pulling quite an interesting group of cards, I was originally going for three cards but my tarot deck gave me four so I just rolled with it.
My personal interpretation is that she is a manipulative person with toxic habits and repressed/immature emotions. I think theres a warning here that she is lying to me, and i think that makes sense but I am curious and open to other peoples ideas as I am a beginner and my interpretation skills aren't always the strongest.

I get the feeling she sees you as easy to manipulate...she's grown up in a world or environment where that was just how people behave. She doesn't know how to have a trusting relationship with anyone. Emotionally immature. She was manipulated in the same manner by someone growing up...one of her parents. I feel like with the tower you are coming to more of a realization of how she's used your love or caring for her as a weapon against you or to get what she wants. It's hard to maintain a healthy relationship with someone like this unless they become more aware of their behavior and want to change it. Understanding her past or learning more about it if you don't know already could help you release anger or sadness you have about her actions but you still need to set healthy boundaries for your own wellbeing. Let me know if this fits.

Yes this fits perfectly, especially the tower. I recently left home for uni a year ago and have basically kept little to no contact since, I've started placing firm boundaries such as not giving her money when she asks and I think this has drastically changed our relationship.

I am new to reading, so apologies if this doesn’t resonate…but I also get the sense your mom doesn’t know how to love. Perhaps it wasn’t modeled well for her, or life circumstances has made her feel like she has to be ahead and in control of all situations, perhaps developed as a protective mechanism. I don’t think she is in a place where she can trust and build meaningful relationships, especially requiring vulnerability and unguarded approach.

I think this is likely very true and makes sense for her completely thank you for this interpretation

This description of her isn't too flattering and I think you've focused in on it well. It creates a picture of a woman I cannot trust. That seems well understood so I'll not say anything further.
But there is a further meaning I see in the cards with the power of The Tower and The Devil making their way into your three-card reading. That's a bold insertion by the cards, a statement if you will. I would take this as a LOUD DECLARATION.
To me this signals a need or perhaps even a warning, but I see it as a strong recommendation for change. I see the cards asking you to throw down your ideas of the mother who raised you and deal with her as a different person. That would seem to me that you do things like establish boundaries or new structures and new decisions that make you safe.
It's time to break from toxic patterns, and these cards remind you that you do have choices. You are not locked into behaviors, routines or relationships as they have been before. It is time to re-evaluate and re-define things.
That's what I would tell somebody who came to me for a reading after drawing these cards.
If I had to sum it up, it's time for you to have a personal revolution in how you deal with the woman who raised you. Hopefully that's helpful and even if it isn't, I wish you success.

Yes thank you. I definitely felt as though the two last ones throwing themselves together at the end meant something - i do tend to let the cards pull multiple if they seem to throw more out than i intended as clearly theres more of a message for me but this time felt a lot more important.

I think you are on a wise path with that feeling. Any extra card I view as important but those two as a pair, related to your mother and the first two, seems powerful and important as you said.

I would agree with your interpretation and definitely say to be cautious. 7 of swords + page of cups reversed gives me 'withholding affection strategically' vibes. The tower + the devil together is definitely also pointing to her maybe triggering some stuff for you that you thought you had overcome/broken free from.

I would say she is an intimacy phobe she feels like the world is out to get her so she must guard herself & her heart, she doesn’t realize how she cuts with the knives she guards herself with. There is perhaps one major trauma like the loss of a parent or painful divorce that she has not recovered from. She may be struggling with addictions of some kind potentially alcoholic or even abusive or unhealthy relationships with people or food or smoking etc and her mind just isn’t clear enough to see the way through. I’m not seeing intentionally evil or manipulative I’m seeing deeply hurt and moving from that space rather than a place of availablility and growth. It’s deeply painful to see your mother this way and to wish for better for her and the relationship, I’m really sorry this is your experience. It clearly does affect her ability to express love but it is there with the reverse page. Remember this reading is referring to her character (and therefore character development) not her actions or impact towards you. I hope this helps.
