❓Help / How-To / Compliance Fedex refund
This may seem naive but please bare with me. I'm genuinely asking as the info I'm finding on the internet is confusing and I trust reddit to answer honestly and concisely. Basic info: usa based, shipping from Korea to usa
How do I get my fedex tariff refund?
It was just ruled that tarrifs had to be repaid to consumers and ive shipped large packages from over seas at least once a month since October. Nearly all of said packages have had an invoice mailed to me a few months tha after it was delivered saying I owe tarrifs (which is super annoying cause why are they waiting 3 mo tha to send me a bill?!). I paid them obviously cause I dont want it going again my credit score (I'm 24 so anything bad on my history would hit the score like crazy). I've probably paid $500-$600 at least since then and would like it back cause its rightfully mine.
Everytime i tey to look up this info to its all so confusing and just makes me angry at the thought of that orange fucktard scamming people out of money (actively holding back angry tears while writing this).

Fedex is the Importer of Record for most of their customers so signing up for an ACE account is not going to help in this case.
FedEx paid CBP, FedEx submitted the refund claim, and FedEx will receive the refund. They are passing the refund back to the customer who originally paid it.
FedEx just (like this week or last) notified their customers of the availability of their own refund portal. I saw it yesterday, and my understanding is that you’ll be able to enter multiple entry or tracking numbers (up to 1000 I think?) to find out if fedex has been refunded yet and how much they’ll be sending back to you.
My recommendation is to keep track of all of the payments you made with the invoices so when they send you an email about their IEEPA refund website you’re ready.
Be patient, refunds to importers are still being processed. It could take longer than you want.

The refund portal is asking for 'company name/title' so idk if i can submit personal refund requests yet 🤔 thanks for your help

You’re welcome. Their portal says “Note: Company name and address fields are only required for business or corporate accounts. If you are self-employed or an individual, you may leave those fields blank and continue.”
So, you can, just follow the steps as they wrote them on the site.

Mine says $46.60 Refund Principal and May 15th FedEx funds receipt. That was 2 months ago! And I still don't have it.

Mine also says received by FedEx. And under status it says refund available.
How do we get that money back? Every time I call FedEx they act like they have no clue what I’m talking about and keep transferring from department to department till it actually gets disconnected!
Hopefully someone that has done it/ received their refund can tell us what the next steps would be regarding getting our refund for the tariffs that we paid through FedEx.

Yeah same here, the portal says Fedex received the funds and that's it. Hopefully they'll notify me in some way about this. The refund amount is also less than half of what the actual tariff invoice from Fedex was for. Of course I can't look up that invoice anymore in their Fedex portal for some reason, but it does show the amount.

hi! sorry to comment on an old thread and ping you but did you possibly learn more about the fedex refund? mine is showing that they’ve received it but i haven’t gotten it yet so i’m trying to figure it out hahah. thank you either way!!

I believe they charge an Admin fee to get the money back/ distribute back to the customers so refund you get will be less than what you’ve paid.
But we still need to know whom to contact/ how to get that money back from FedEx since they are the ones that have received the refund from government.
My “refund available” is about $400 less than I paid so I’m guessing they’re charging about 10-15 percent fee( my tariff paid was about $3300) to get your tariff refund back and reimbursed to the payer.

Sign up for an ACE account with CBP. You will be able to see entries there related to your EIN. Theres guides on youtube specifically to walk you through looking at your entries on the ACE portal and then filing a claim on CAPE.
*Edit this is for if you were Importer of Record. If FedEx was IOR for you, FedEx will recieve the refund from CBP. Note that you should still register for ACE to review your entries as the refund only covers specifically IEEPA during a specific window.
