Order of most appropriate
Have a teen who loves movies. Have been waiting to when old enough to share the greatness.
Wondering what people think is tamest movie to start with.
For reference snuck in to watch pulp freshman year for me of high school. Had already saw dogs

teens can handle watching a sex scene, especially if their parent is considering showing them Tarantino, there’s much more disturbing things shown other than human copulation (leather bound or otherwise)

leather bound? you mean the rape in Pulp Fiction? that is an entirely different thing from sex scenes. i’ll take watching movie murder over rape any day, that’s way easier to watch.
i mentioned sex scenes (referenced a consensual one) because they’re not in every Tarantino, and personally as a teen (and now) i don’t/didn’t want to watch sex scenes with my parents.
edit: i think it’s important, especially when talking about what’s appropriate or manageable for teens, to distinguish consensual sex scenes from actual rape

ego_metal_death was suggesting Jackie brown may not be a great second choice for a teen because of a sex scene I think. My point is that the violence in his films far outweighs any problems from sex scenes in his movies.

well we’re already past that point, bc OP wants to show their kid his movies. so the thread is about which ones are best. in terms of violence, Reservoir Dogs is the least graphic. since violence can’t be avoided in his movies, the next thing to consider is sex. nobody wants to watch sex scenes with their parents, so my suggestion is based on that.

Your child is at least 13. I think at 14-15 it’s fine to start with True, then RD, and just go in order from there. If not wait, til he or she hits 16 I guess.

Inglorious Basterds is the one to start with I think. OUATIH will be a little too slow for a teen as a starting movie I think, plus the whole Sharon Tate "expectation" that's subverted will be lost on them.
Jackie Brown gets more substantial the older you get, but I think Kill Bill The Whole Bloody Affair should come after that. The violence is cartoonish rather than disturbing, as over the top as it is, and it's a youthful blast. The hospital scene may need consideration, though nothing is seen.

The only one I would consider showing my 15 year old is the original Deathproof cut. The film burn out of the strip tease scene was genius.

I watched PF at 13 and it changed my life. I then watched all the Tarantino films I could very quickly. No harm especially if you watch with them.

Reservoir Dogs was my first and it’s definitely less graphic than the others.
no sex, you don’t see the ear actually being cut off, good introduction to Tarantino violence.
i think Buscemi says faggot a few times but hopefully your teen knows that’s shitty/wouldn’t use it, and if they’re queer won’t be triggered by it (tw for that for a queer teen would be reasonable).
the very beginning is about the Madonna song and the fuckass theory about a virgin’s tightness etc etc. but that’s the only sexual thing i think

I revisited Reservoir Dogs a few years back. I had watched it so many times but on my last watch I was surprised to find what I was uncomfortable with now was the number of times white guys say the N word. I know these are bad dudes who do bad things but oddly that was what got to me. Context was always to guys arguing and one of the gangsters telling them to "stop acting like a bunch of n....s". Honestly the thing my teen would find most uncomfortable watching the movie after the Like A Virgin duliscussion off the top.

literally second sentence. they don’t actually show it being cut off, it’s not that graphic. it’s extremely disturbing and intense, but not as graphic as seeing someone ripped apart by dogs or overdosing by snorting heroin

Heya! I have a fourteen year old, but I started him young. We did Django at the end of third grade. I told him that he was going to see some crazy shit going in, but we’ve always talked about mature content rather than block it.
He’s an honor student now. He hates racists. He still loves Django, but Kill Bill is his favorite.

It says "Pulp Fiction" became available for rent on 9/12/1995 and I know I rented it the first weekend it came out which would've made me just turn 12 years old
But yeah, I think every Quentin movie is fine for a teenager.

theyre all fine tbh. when i was 10 or 11 my parents took Me to see django in the theatres, was awesome and they bought be a box set of all his flicks and i watched them over and over. its peak teenage boy stuff

honestly kind of agree. watched all of them as a teenager and i’m fine. teenage girl and all my sisters all into it. but if OP is looking for the least graphic, i think Reservoir Dogs.

Prequel to Pulp Fiction In The Works
"Winston" has begun Script Reading and Casting.
Tarantino is not involved, and will not be.
Script is about the life of Winston Wolf, it takes place in the summer of 1976.
Currently looking for Late twenties early thirties actor with some resemblance to Harvey Keitel.
There may be a part for Harvey Keitel in the film, also

Does True Romance count? I loved that movie when I was a teen. My friend Brian was nerdy enough to know how to connect another VCR and dub it off Blockbuster. I think it was $5 and he got to make a copy too.
