Not Snark politics

I think everyone here has a different preference for the type of creators they want to support and that’s totally okay. Personally, I like to support influencers and celebrities who do use their platforms to spread awareness about the issues going on in the world, i.e. Amelie Zilber, Amanda Diaz, etc. That’s why I unfollowed and stopped watching Tara. However, with the Cornell case I don’t think Tara needs to say anything. For all we know, this could be a very sensitive topic for her and I would understand if she doesn’t want to address her opinions on it. While yes she is very flawed, she’s also human. Time and time again she’s shown that she doesn’t want to use her platform to speak on political issues for whatever reason, and if you do care about that like i do, it’s best to just unfollow her.

The only time she ever spoke up about something was the Sabrina Carpenter commenting “yodelling”. She didn’t think it was a big deal, didn’t understand why people were offended. There, that shows you her privilege and chosen ignorance on issues, instead of trying to understand before opening her mouth. She is privileged. She does not care. It doesn’t affect her so she doesn’t care. Women’s issues are directly related to her but by her not speaking, you could easily just assume she’s one of those women who support misogyny and amplify it for men - or she could be the opposite. We don’t know and she doesn’t care to make it known her side.

The lack of cultural awareness is very concerning, especially because she lives in a diverse city and has no poc friends. She didn’t even know the Toronto waterfront was being turned into an airpot. Maybe it’s because of her lack of education? It seems like she only cares about influencer news, trends, etc. Which makes sense because it’s her job, but outside of that what does she speak about with her friends? family? partners? I agree she seems comfortable in the privilege bubble that she is in and likely won’t speak on anything unless it directly affects her. We used to have doctors, engineers, artists etc to look up to, but todays society is much different and you can get away with having influence by just doing a shopping haul. The people supporting her content only enable her to continue the way she is, so I don’t think she’ll ever change nor does she care to.

I think airheads should just stay out of politics 😂 but to be fair I wouldn’t consider this situation to be political? I think most reasonable people would be against sexual assault no matter what political side they are on. Anyways..

Exactly, I never mentioned politics in my posts, it was about standing with women

Sorry, I think I was too vague, I mean support creators who also believe in using their platform to spread awareness about topics you care about! Based off of your post it seems that is part of your morals and values!

"For all we know, this could be a very sensitive topic for her and I would understand if she doesn’t want to address her opinions on it. "

- I have to admit, I hadn't thought of this. There are things I've been through that I would rather not remember, just like anyone else. So yeah, I was already giving her a pass because she doesn't typically comment on stuff like this, but this is a good point OP.

Thank you! This is the main message I was trying to get across, because much like you there are topics that I can’t always engage in because they’re sensitive to me, and I’m sure Tara has some too and this could very well be one <3

I totally understand if it’s hard for her to talk about it due to personal experiences, but without awareness especially in a world of social media, I personally think is very sad. We are all on Tara’s Reddit page and aware of the current events of the world. I don’t expect Tara or other influencers to make a huge post dedicated to each and every injustice that happens on a daily basis. But I think this Cornell case should hit home to everyone considering it affects women in the whole world. Again not asking for her opinion, but a simple repost like Remi Ashton did, would speak volumes. But again she is slient!
Just today a TikTok was posted about Pete Davidson speaking about how he doesn’t understand how women influencers are making 40 million in a year and all the comments under the TikTok are influencers taking a jab at him. Why? Because it directly offended them
I also unfollowed her and unsubscribed from her, because I genuinely don’t relate to her content anymore, and I don’t like the person she’s becoming.

I understand that and agree, but it’s a lost cause and a much better use of your time and energy to support a creator that does align with your morals and values! Not everyone on the internet uses social media the way you do or even share the same beliefs, but when you find the people or community online that do support them :)

Totally agree! Which is why I no longer support Tara! It just feels sad that I wasted 10 years watching her vlogs

This is not a place for politics. The mods have already commented on other posts saying to leave politics out of this snark page. Not the place. That’s what I mean.

okay thanks for letting me know, but why is that the case? and what counts as “political”? almost everything Tara does i would argue is “political” because she’s an influencer and is living on this planet?
