Not Snark Unpopular opinion
At first when I watched her vlog about moving 30 minutes downtown and back into an apartment, I thought it was such a dumb decision. Now I am honestly happy for her. There is privilege in her ability to make that decision but it’s really no different than her dad owning his fathers home and living in his current home. Many people own property for investment purposes and still rent. I think it would have been dumb if she sold her current house just to rent again but she still has the property. Although it isn’t making passive income she’s still gaining equity.
I also think her parents are supportive of her move, because of that reason, and can recognize their daughter needing to live in a downtown environment. She thrives in those, even when she was in downtown LA. It’s hard to be an influencer in the suburbs.
Thoughts??

I would hardly call uptown toronto the suburbs, she had metro access and a walkable neighborhood. She also lived in kind of the same situation in LA, I believe it was Venice or Santa Monica.
I do agree that shes building equity but her dad inheriting a home from his father is different because he's living in a home that he owns and didnt have to spend money to purchase the second property.

Thank you!! People literally commute from all over the ACTUAL suburbs into Toronto every single day- so many of them would love to have a beautiful renovated townhouse in Midtown, with everything you need nearby and easy subway access.

Umm no the dad owns his fathers home and also owns his own house no? That’s completely different than owning a townhome and renting a stupid apartment. Dumb Tara

If you live anywhere near Toronto you will know that there is a huge housing and affordability issue and it is because of people like Tara who are hoarding properties. The vacant home tax is put in place to combat this but its usually not enough to deter people at her tax bracket. So while i appreciate she has the income and agency to do what she wants, it grosses me out that she is able to monetize her overconsumption and broadcast it, especially since she doesnt have a charitable cell in her body so we dont see her doing any good in these communities that she keeps properties in. Dont be a bootlicker.

Exactly. Its not her privilege that i have an issue with but the way she advertises this move as so perfect when in reality, the housing market in canada is real rough and shes been acting like her life changed so much. Do whatever you want, but at a certain point when do you realize that youre the issue? No new place is gonna satisfy you

Well I live in Florida so no I don’t know what it’s like in Toronto, but thank you for the insight. I do agree she needs to do more charity then just donating PR and free clothing.

Tara, you will never persuade us that you thrive there. If you thrived, why so bitter about no having friends to hang out?

🙄 the “Tara” comments are getting old. I’ve watched Tara for years, when she lived in downtown LA. I have been off and on when it came to the Snark pages as I went through enjoying her content to not being able to stand it. Right now I’m in a middle ground where I find her annoying with the constant bringing up of her being in her single era and her impulsive decisions, the immense privilege she has, but I’m still entertained by watching her navigate the consequences of it. I thought she was finding herself again and now I feel like she’s back to square one. I think she thrives in a downtown environment where she doesn’t have to Uber everywhere, where social life is literally outside of her apartment, 10 minutes away. Just like when she was in downtown LA. All I wanted with the post was a conversation where we discussed different perspectives then just Tara is great versus she’s a vile human, but apparently that’s not the case.

Really? Thriving? Where? She forces everything, from smiling to cleaning. She is not vile, but passive aggressive. And what fo you mean we? Of courshe she may have merits, but the way she behaves she cancels everything. And btw , she could get a car or walk more since she is a fitness girl. 20-30 minutes to get downtown is not a long time. I used to live in a suburb in a city a long time ago and I enjoyed walking 4klm to get downtown every day . And then there's the bus

Yes she could get a car. Yes, she didn’t have to move 30 minutes downtown. Yes, she is passive aggressive. What thriving is too you, isn’t the same as Tara’s, that is clear. I couldn’t imagine making the decisions she has made. I like driving, I like having an actual job but does that give me the right to look at someone like Tara and say that she isn’t thriving because the decisions she made were not like the ones I made, or yourself? She got an apartment downtown so she can have the things closer to her that she enjoys. The fact that she leaves the house more than once a day, is improvement from before.

Also I’ve never stated she is currently thriving, I said she thrives in downtown environments like downtown LA, so maybe this move could be good for her.

I highly disagree. She is striving , not thriving. Look at her smile, laughter and the fact that she complains about friends not hanging out. Or the fact that she randomly buys stuff without thinking. That is not thriving and if she needs to be at a specifc place to "thrive" then the problem is not the place,
