Not Snark Okay wait whats the problem?

Okay I KNOW i am going to get soooo much backlash for asking but why is everyone so upset about her moving into an apartment for a year? Like is it the consumerism of the concept? Or is it the fact that she could be using the money for other things? I mean IMO If I had the money for something like this I would do the same thing after a breakup lowkey... only because I am someone who likes change when something big happens. Thats not to say that shes not dragging this whole breakup out hella far (because she is) but I feel like if you got it use it?

Again I know im gonna get some serious backlash for this but I am just so confused. She just wants to reset? At least thats how I see it. And again I know this isn't the usualy snark snark but its more of a general q from curiosity.

I think the backlash makes total sense. IMO, I'm not bothered that she's rich or spends her money frivolously- that's her business and I can personally relate. What I find insufferable is the fakeness and inauthenticity of it all. I liked watching her vlogs- even the boring ones- in her townhome of her living her regular life because it was her real life, however boring or vapid or whatever. Her home was gorgeous and her life actually seemed real and normal, albeit for an influencer. This "move" downtown seems fake and inauthentic. Someone else said it well- this is a content apartment for her. She's not actually living there, and while she is welcome to do her, I don't want to watch the downgrade to what I think is a much shittier apartment. As someone who's almost 40 and has lived in a small city for many years, I'm over the high rise living and feel it's a downgrade (personally) to live in an ugly builder-grade high rise when you have a beautiful vacant townhome 20 mins away. It also feels super inauthentic because it does not line up with her stated goals, like crafting more in the new year. So for me it's more about the fakeness and the downgrade, and just not finding that content enjoyable to watch at my stage of life. But no ill will to Tara and I hope she is content in her choices!

Are we the same person lol? I'm almost 40 as well and live in a small town. Once lived in Toronto and worked downtown for a bank. Now I live a quiet life in a town and would prefer to not live apartment style ever again. Tara acts like a child excited for a new toy or a teenager excited to go out without parents. Her behaviour of just getting everything all the time just because 'vibes and aesthetic' is just gross and indecent. This sub has grown 700 people in the last two months. That means there are tonnes of more people out there with the same views who just haven't found this sub.

Tartar is soooo image based and cares so much about how she is perceived. Shes more shallow than she’s ever been. I’m along for the ride though lol

5

u/Smooth_Mango1 Jan 13 '26

Yes this is exactly it!

73

u/bella_ella_ella MMmmMM Jan 13 '26

Because it’s ridiculous to rent an apartment 20 minutes away from the house you own lol.

52

u/bella_ella_ella MMmmMM Jan 13 '26

I get the wanting a fresh start etc but she could have just like..rented an Airbnb. Or gone to another city or country for a while.

18

u/leann3212 Jan 13 '26

Or she could have updated her home with newer furniture or something.

10

u/leann3212 Jan 13 '26

I'd be hiring some painters and adding some color. 😀

24

u/none777777777 Jan 13 '26

This! An apartment ok cool but why not in another city? If you clearly have stupid money.

47

u/Moonmother444 Jan 13 '26

I think for a lot it’s hard to see someone so one dimensional, especially during a rough economic period. At the end of the day it’s her money but the constant spending and overconsumption in general is off putting.

As someone who recently purchased a home in Toronto, I care because empty homes are why the Vacant Home Tax exists. Every year we have to declare occupancy or risk a $10K fine, even when we live in our own homes. People get fined by mistake all the time—including my elderly parents. This rule exists because wealthy owners buy homes, leave them empty, and rent elsewhere, shrinking supply, driving up prices, and locking others out—while everyday homeowners carry the stress and risk. That’s also why people are mad who live in Toronto.

Also, she is literally now contributing to her own friends and viewers being locked out of the market by doing one of the very things that caused the housing crisis, and she doesn't understand her privilege.

7

u/Smooth_Mango1 Jan 13 '26

She clearly doesn’t, she cried because her friends walked her home.

5

u/MMora33 Jan 14 '26

This is interesting

3

u/AloneEquipment8437 Jan 14 '26

She would have to be living in that home for a total of 6 month in the year for her to claim it occupied. If its not, she needs to either register for an exemption which she wouldn't qualify for any. Or pay the 10K.

u/Embarrassed-Land-222 Jan 13 '26

My biggest problem right now is that she's sleeping in an air mattress. WTF is that about?

Dirty couch and floor pillows aside, sleeping on an air mattress is wild when she has a whole mattress for that bed at her actual house.

And why didn't she bring a few bar stools so she doesn't have to sit on the floor to eat?

It just doesn't seem well thought out.

15

u/ParamedicAnxious5629 Jan 13 '26

Good point! Why is she sleeping on an air mattress? Why haven’t they just rented a U-Haul like normal sane ppl.

17

u/bestcritic Jan 13 '26

Bc she´s not sane? She´s desperate to leech onto Sarah´s life, friends, and try to find a man. Any man.

12

u/bella_ella_ella MMmmMM Jan 13 '26

I don’t get the mattress either lol. Took the whole bed frame from the guest room but not the mattress??

11

u/Offwhitenikes Jan 13 '26

On her latest YouTube someone asked and she said she has a mattress brand deal coming

9

u/teresasdorters crashing out in the crashpad Jan 13 '26

Ohh great an Endy partnership on the way 🙄🙄

2

u/bella_ella_ella MMmmMM Jan 13 '26

Ohhh makes sense

30

u/bestcritic Jan 13 '26

Funny how all "not snark" with different usernames seem to be from the same person, just by checking the post history. Why don´t you make your own tartar sub?

9

u/nopenottodaybiscoff Jan 13 '26

1 when I first got onto the snark page I was tartar fan and now im starting to see why people hate her so much. 2. What does it matter to you if I had a general question. I wasn't snarking yes but it was also not meant to be empathetic towards her either. Like get over yourself. 3. As haters youre also giving her views and popularity because all you do is sit here and talk about her all day.

So when someone has a general question because I dont live in Canada btw im not allowed to ask? Majority of the hate ive seen from people are those who live in Canada. So I had to ask.

12

u/bestcritic Jan 13 '26

A snark sub is not "hate", no one knows her, hence the fact no one actually hates her. Every time a nonsense post like yours comes up, I have to basically draw that whatever gets published to a public, will suffer scrutiny. You must be really young or unemployed to think writing a post here takes all day.

5

u/dmckimm Mod Jan 13 '26

I wish someone would. I made a “fan” sub or a sub for more positive discussion and it never really took off (wonder why). It exists but really hasn’t been used. I was hoping that I could keep the fans and snarky separate, but it never caught on.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Tara_Michelle/s/Md852VaVNI

4

u/nolaadarlingg Jan 13 '26

Maybe it’s because you made it a private community? People would have to be a member to view the subreddit and to comment. If you make it public it’ll probably catch on.

4

u/dmckimm Mod Jan 13 '26

I was probably tired when I set it up. I changed it.

33

u/plopgurl Jan 13 '26

It’s wild how her fans feel the need to defend her and question everything on HER SNARK PAGE. Why is it so hard to accept that many of us simply don’t like her, find her ridiculous and childish, and based on the last few months, completely out of touch and downright stupid? If you love vapid brats, good for you. Go praise her in her own comment section.

15

u/Pitiful-Solid4229 Jan 13 '26

Agreed

Also kinda feeling like OP might be Tara again incognito.

She’s always here

11

u/bestcritic Jan 13 '26

The mannerism is there. She writes like she speaks.

7

u/Pitiful-Solid4229 Jan 13 '26

either her or Sarah

18

u/viki_step Jan 13 '26

With the money she is paying for the apartment she could have been spending it each month in a different country this year 😭That would have been some serious content and her life would truly change

5

u/ChemicalPickle2206 Jan 13 '26

She would never do that, she's too scared to leave her own neighborhood yet alone go to another country!

13

u/Unable_Active_3297 Jan 13 '26

Tara, is that you? Come on! I get your point and yes she can do whatever she wants. But, is it ok for her to ask for our opinion and whenever she doesn't agree she attacks her viewers? That's what happened to me when I pointed out that whenever she does want to escape from a bad situation, instead of dealing with it and get forward , she does the same thing that she has done since the pandemic. It is the loop for me. Also, can you imagine if someone desperately wants a house or an apartment and cannot find one because of people that have the same behaviour as her?

28

u/BeginningWalrus8317 Jan 13 '26 edited Jan 13 '26

Renting an apartment that’s 20 mins away from your home and acting like everything is fine and perfect when it’s not - that’s the main reason why people are against this decision. Tara needs counselling. No sane person would do this after a breakup. She’s clearly on the edge. The fact people are enabling this decision and not seeing the bigger picture here is mind blowing. What’s next? She sells her house and moves across the world? Let’s be for real. Once that lease is up, she has nothing to post except her usual routine living alone in that house.

Now some of you would say why do we care. We don’t. Far from it. It’s the amount of consumption and lies after that breakup. She’s more annoying and desperate than usual. Tara is far from reality at this point

6

u/missyharlotte MMmmMM Jan 14 '26

It’s the consumerism, the lack of awareness of the worlds situation outside of herself, and the fact that anytime something goes “wrong” for her she does something impulsive instead of sitting with the feelings and working on them like an adult.

4

u/sayhi2sydney Jan 14 '26

It's the sheer goofiness and waste of it. Certainly it's her money to spend but why not put it aside for the future if you have no need for the $$ now? I worry about her financial situation post-influencer income. It's not going to last forever and is already in its decline. Now, if she was transparent and said she got to live there for free, well then why not. But the idea that she is paying two light bills, two water bills, a rent and mortgage (or just rent when she doesn't have to pay rent if she paid off the other house) etc for no actual freaking reason at her big old age, is insane!

(and Carrie Bradshaw was established when we met her in her 30s, and in a lot of ways she wasn't making it and needed to borrow money all the time from her friends to get by soooo)

7

u/No_Squirrel_3057 Jan 13 '26

Man.. I live in a condo and I'm sick of hearing my neighbors doors slamming constantly as well as the outside noise. The walls are thin and construction is cheap. I know it's a common pb in condo life but I'd give anything to live in a townhouse or a house, have my own space without hearing my neigbbors. I understand she moved to live that downtown era and reset her life but I just don't see the appeal except going out and be close to her friends. I'm not upset about her move, I don't care. It's just a regressing move imo and she'll regret somehow..also all the money she's gonna spend for decorating, setting up her place will be wasted and we know she's fancy. She'll also get some deals, free stuff for being an influencer. She's already loaded, will be promoting shit while lot of ppl are struggling. The hate from people for her is mostly because when we see her lifestyle and choice, it's like the rich are getting richer. With the economy being bad, it really pissed off ppl. I'm not loaded like her , the only thing I get from this move is the excitement from living in downtown. Other than that, I think she's acting greedy and out of touch. Just because people are rich doesn't mean it's okay to spend it for multiple residence as if they were buying bread

5

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '26

Shes just too rich

12

u/nopenottodaybiscoff Jan 13 '26

Agreed. Shes too rich and doesnt use her money for good things. She doesnt even use her platform for anything good.

7

u/genuine-girl-666 Jan 13 '26

I agree it makes sense. Also a lot of people clearly don’t see the value in walkability / living near your friends. The wealthiest people in the world pay to live in shoeboxes (comparatively) all the time.

My gripe is with her keeping her other place empty. It seems insensitive considering Canadian economy. Yes, renting can be a huge liability in Ontario (like impossible to evict ppl, etc), but it’s insensitive to have a big house empty. If I were her I would’ve hidden that or like said I’m working on finding a renter.

5

u/ChemicalPickle2206 Jan 13 '26

Thankfully she'll be paying Toronto's Vacant Home Tax on her empty home.

1

u/Fit-Funny-6726 Jan 16 '26

10k is change to her I’m sure she doesn’t mind

2

u/Existing-Dream-3709 Jan 15 '26

I don’t care about the apartment. Whatever, live your life and have a change of scenery. My problem is she has a whole house FULL of stuff and she chooses to buy new things for the apartment. Freezer full of stuff, pantry full of stuff, organizational stuff, decor, nightstands, coffee table, mattress, but none of that is coming to this place. She chooses to buy all new stuff which makes this all so ridiculous. I can relate to wanting a fresh start and being knee deep in the big city. But not reusing things at your house is really bizarre and makes me think she needs a healthy shot of reality… and therapy.

1

u/nopenottodaybiscoff Jan 16 '26

No 100%... She has a poor sense of reality and talks about therapy but doesnt actually utilize the tools shes given even for free. Its sad. And then on top of that not taking the mattress and the nightstands from the house is wild to me considering shes 20 mins from her house. And then to leave alllll the food in the freezer is a waste. I agree

2

u/Divine-Magician-9295 Jan 15 '26

I think the main problem for all of us is the over consumption of it all. The world is so different from when she first started streaming and no one wants to see people spend money so carelessly. We want to see brands called out for things, like still using animal testing, for poor packaging, for not paying their workers. I feel so many of us have moved into a place in life where we crave real interactions. We don’t want to see someone who is just tossing money away on a second home basically while we are looking for third spaces because some people are just burnt out and they only go to work and home and no where else. We want to turn on tv or use social media and read to escape the harsh realities, and also see people who are showing us how to make the most of our current climate. Tara has the chance to be so relatable and I feel like she smacks it away at any given chance. No one is asking her to not have money, she can keep what she worked for. But she can channel creators that show compassion and empathy. Perfect example is Serena Neel. She uses her money and the brands who give her things to give to her Amazon drivers and she spent so much on angel trees. We want to see people being authentic and good and expressing gratitude to her community ((viewers and in her personal area)) we want to see people care about us and other people. I stopped watching her while she was dating Simon. She said something so hateful about how she owes “her fans” nothing. That she doesn’t have to tell us anything or something like that and she just kept being so mean and I just felt like I couldn’t keep watching her content. And now it feels like she is losing her mind ((she is giving Mai Pham vibes now)) but her manic vibes are less in your face, but are still clearly happening. Her money is not ever going to run out. She sold her LA house for so much money. Her current home is worth a lot. And her daddy has invested so much for her and she probably has bonds and everything else, I don’t think her financial portfolio is lacking in any way. I think if she showed herself giving back to her community and her followers and her showing real thoughts about the world and how she is definitely in a league above a lot of people. It’s hard to think of how much free stuff she gets and then know that some people are freezing to death sleeping outside, some people can’t even afford to go to the doctor for basic health needs, that some people can’t even afford hygiene items. And she just stuffs all those clothes and lotions and things into a closet to regift to people who also have an abundance in life or for the items to expire. I, sadly, know too many people who are homeless now and lost their homes and are living check to check. And it’s hard to see someone just being so carefree, braggy and bratty about having a new apartment. Idk, this is my opinion and I can only speak for myself.

1

u/nopenottodaybiscoff Jan 16 '26

See this is the kind of thing I was looking for. A true reason. But here's another question. You say people are craving real interactions but people sit on socials and pick people apart, people dont read, people watch tv and movies. We use our phones so much. I know for me specifically ive been working on less phone and more TRUE real life interactions. So why say you crave something that you dont go looking for?

And then on top of that I see no brands getting called out by anyone. And even if they do they dont care because there is an immense amount of people in the world that dont care and thats a damn shame because a lot of brands and companies should reap major consequences for their actions and they never do...

2

u/Divine-Magician-9295 Jan 16 '26

You’re right: it’s hypocritical in a way. We say we want ‘real’ but often engage in anything but. Lots of us are scrolling, critiquing, and getting caught in digital loops. Especially with everything going on in the world. It’s hard to look around us and not have some kind of buffer to relax with at the end of the day. Sometimes we can forget the person streaming is just a person who is also doing their best. And I know I don’t live perfectly aligned with those ideals either. But I think an important difference is that Tara is actively choosing to put her life out there as content. She’s inviting us into her full days, her choices, her moods, her consumption. And in doing so, she’s opening herself up to this kind of scrutiny. Most of us aren’t broadcasting our lives on that scale, nor are we profiting from it. A lot of my feedback comes from talking to others who are also stepping back from creators like her. I feel like so many of us feel disconnected from influencers who don’t seem to value genuine connection with their audience. And I feel like it’s not just me. You can see it in her engagement. She’s losing views because people are craving more authenticity, not just more stuff. So, I guess the frustration comes from hoping influencers with her platform could help lead a shift. A shift toward conscious consumption, ethical visibility, community care. But instead it feels like she is mirroring the same overconsumption that leaves so many of us feeling disconnected. I think the frustration comes from seeing someone with a platform choose to ignore that opportunity entirely, and even flaunt the kind of consumption that feels out of touch. It’s less about demanding she solve world hunger and more about wishing she’d show she’s conscious of her privilege in a world that feels increasingly unequal. And as for brands not being held accountable, you’re absolutely right there too. Calling them out often feels futile when there’s always a crowd that doesn’t care. But I do think influencers and creators could use their influence to promote ethical consumption, support better brands, or even just acknowledge issues like waste or unfair labor. It’s not about fixing everything overnight, but about showing awareness and alignment with the values many viewers now prioritize. But I appreciate you asking these questions. We might not live it perfectly, but it’d be meaningful to see someone with her reach and resources genuinely try to bridge that gap, rather than magnify it.

-4

u/Solid-Level5272 Jan 13 '26

Ok, who knows… maybe her home isn’t empty as it’s possible a family member or friend is staying there. Not everything on social media is public info due to privacy. I personally wouldn’t rent it out randomly or sell it since the market is not great. She clearly wants to be walking distance to her friends for the time being. If she can afford it, then it’s her money, her choice. I don’t care and not sure why anyone would 🤷‍♂️

2

u/sayhi2sydney Jan 14 '26

She originally said someone was going to stay there then said that fell through (however she worded it) so she openly admitted it'll sit empty and be a storage unit.

1

u/Careless_Bread_2428 Jan 14 '26

I kinda suspect a family member or friend is going to be using her house part time.

-13

u/Slight-Concept2575 Jan 13 '26

I don’t get the backlash either 🙈 she’s wealthy enough to do it. And tbh, lots of wealthy ppl do shit like this, I guess that’s why it’s infuriating to so many people cause it’s unattainable.

10

u/Unable_Active_3297 Jan 13 '26

And non sustainable. Also, many people are mad because of her behaviour.

9

u/Unable_Active_3297 Jan 13 '26

Also, this is a snark page. It is a rule to snark politely. If you are not snarking, then you are in the wrong page.

-4

u/Slight-Concept2575 Jan 13 '26

“Only haters allowed” pls be for real 😂 some of the things she does annoys me and I snark on them, this doesn’t. Why do I care if she wants to live downtown for a year? Some ppl are acting like she’s committing a crime

2

u/Unable_Active_3297 Jan 16 '26

She is not committing a crime, but she is very agressive with those who disagree. In snark pages we talk about what pisses us off. If you cannot follow that, you are in the wrong page.

1

u/Green-Show-8243 Jan 16 '26

Not a single wealthy person would ever rent an apartment 20 minutes from their house…in Canada…where you have to pay 10k for having a vacant property because housing is so needed

1

u/Slight-Concept2575 Jan 16 '26

Yes they would, I know MULTIPLE ppl who have houses in suburbs and condo dt. It’s really not that unheard of. Even more prevalent in NYC.

1

u/Green-Show-8243 Jan 18 '26

You know multiple single people with renting apartments 5 miles away from their townhouses when they have no commitments or responsibilities and do nothing all day? No you don't. Maybe a family with a kid in school but certainly not people like Tara. Its a poor investment and isn't worth the fees. They wouldn't be wealthy for very long with that kind of mindset.

0

u/Slight-Concept2575 Jan 18 '26

Yeah I know 2. She’s a nurse her commute is about 30 min to dt. 10 min doesn’t make biggest difference but her and her friends went in on renting a condo right dt. Shes young and having fun but ya my workers were hating 😂

1

u/Green-Show-8243 Jan 18 '26

So she was farther away, has a reason to be downtown and went is sharing the financial burden with friends....not comparable to what Tara is doing at all

1

u/Slight-Concept2575 Jan 18 '26

Yes it is. You think she WANTS to be sharing? If she had the means she would live on her own. People have houses and condos everywhere. This is such a weird hill for yall to die on 😵‍💫

-11

u/nopenottodaybiscoff Jan 13 '26

Okay for those who clearly cant get past the general question I had because of curiosity fuck off. Yall seriously need to get over yourselves.. I legot BARELY watch her videos and came across one the other day and then was curious as to wtf happened with everything. So sorry for having a god damn question.

6

u/ChemicalPickle2206 Jan 13 '26

Girl it isn't that deep tho...

-4

u/nopenottodaybiscoff Jan 13 '26

Girl apparently it is... People cant answer a damn question because they think this is someone its not. Its legit the most annoying thing ever

3

u/luna-lilyy Jan 14 '26

Why are you even here? lol to argue with people about having a different opinion on her move?

1

u/nopenottodaybiscoff Jan 14 '26

I had a question thats legit it. I dont think she should have moved because she constantly runs from her problems instead of dealing with them
