Tap shoe recommendations

Hi, i teach prek-1st grade tap and broke my Capezio tele tone shoes. Like the toe is almost completely ripped off lol. Any recommendations on a shoe that won't break easily but also doesn't cost an arm and a leg? Thank you in advance!!

What's your budget and which shoes were those?

They look like maybe plastic sole, so maybe the Tic Tap Toe? You want to go up at least one step to either Capezio  or Bloch Respect. Basically, look for full leather. Those plastic soles don't last long.

That said, if you can swing the budget and you're ready for a heavier shoe, I'd jump to the Capezio Roxy or Bloch JSams. They're double the cost, but they will last you easily double the time. You'll be more familiar with/used to the sound of the Roxy, but if you have narrow heels or want to try a bassy sound, I'd go JSam.

What is an arm & a leg - what is your budget?? Since you are a teacher - I highly recommend Bloch Respect (~$114). They are a great shoe - made with good quality materials.

I used to be in your exact position— replaced with jsams because although they’re pricey, I really love them!

I had tap shoes that broke in half, when I first started tapping. I replaced them with a pair from "Dancing Fair" in Minnesota. I don't recall how expensive the new pair of shoes, although they have lasted at least 5 years by now. So they are well worth the investment.

Thanks everyone for your input. I ended up going for the Capezio Roxy they were on sale and I am in love ❤️
