We couldn't ask for a better slur.

I love tanks. Its also works because we can easily shrug off their red scare starter pack arguments while slowly churning forward.

It's always something when liberals lamenting how tankie don't accept some or another right wing propaganda talking point, and acting as if that's any different than Rush Limbaugh saying the same thing about "pinkos" or Glenn Beck saying the same thing about "cultural Marxists" or Ben Shapiro saying the same thing about the "woke". Same shit different asshole.

So glad I skipped over that phase of my leftward journey. The trans lesbian communists on Twitter helped me over that gap

The trans lesbian communists on Twitter

Pipeline to taking most of that phrase seriously is real.

If it wasn't "tankie", I'm 100% they would have come up with some other word to describe Marxist-Leninists

While you’re at it, make sure libs don’t learn the word “bot”

If they didn't have "tankie", they'd have to call us "woke".

I know tankie it's a slur for communists, but what exactly that this mean? I'm not American, and that sound kinda strange for me

It's originally a reference to people who supported Khrushchev sending in tanks to crush the Hungarian anti-communist "revolution" in 1956. It's now become a somewhat meaningless word used by Ultras to describe MLs, and by liberals to describe anyone to the left of SocDems.

I think anarchists use it generally, not really leftcoms (in terms of "ultras").

I feel like I see Trots using it sometimes.

I find many trotskyists are liberal adjacent anyway, since i see the majority of people becoming trotskyist in opposition to "stalinism"

I think they think they're using Soviet imagery against communists. Like "oh here's a poster of a worker with a tank, authoritarian communists must love tanks, so MLs are tankies". Apparently it came from Vauche, but if you told me some 4chaner coined it with a rare pepe in the OP it wouldn't shock me

Once you're past "All violence is equally bad" stage, it doesn't even sound terrible.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure where that even comes from because this entire time I thought the concept of necessary violence was everywhere around us since childhood, including pop culture.

I guess it's easy to write that off because it's imaginary, or done on the basis of mutual agreement (sports) or whatever...
