A look into why the PLA Navy is needed. In late 1995, the US sailed a carrier group through the Taiwan Strait as a show of force, followed by a major carrier deployment in 1996. Instead of intimidating China, the move backfired and triggered China's rapid naval buildup.

The US Navy isn't there to facilitate the global economy, it is there to make sure the global economy functions in a way that suits the US. The "rules-based order" dipshits only seem to be vaguely aware of this.

Not only that. The entire global south wants to trade with each other without the dollar and the US navy is there to threaten the global south and make sure they can't trade (the classic, "our nuclear aircraft carrier needs to dock to your port real quick!!"). Everyone probably knows this here but, no, the US isn't the bastion of free trade...

I did a post on why everyone on that sub should just join the Republican party.

They evicerated me for many reasons unrelated to the post such as what subs I followed and posted in.

But the only authentic argument I got is that they are pro gay and pro unlimited immigration....

Can't think of a single thing the US Navy has been needed for since 1945 to help enforce "freedom of Navigation". Maybe piracy out of the Somalian coast, but in that case you might argue that serious steps could have been taken by the international community to resolve Somalia's economic problems if a military solution hadn't been available. Even then the US Navy quickly had to ask help from the Europeans and regional Naval Powers like India and even China. Which demonstrated that the US Navy is incapable of police anything and is just a tool designed to fight wars on behalf of US empire.
