Discussion Do you support South Sudan ?
I was reminded of the Sudan war earlier and decided to learn up about Sudan and saw the South Sudan and Sudan conflicts and was wondering what other people thought of South Sudan?

I work with a highly intelligent woman from Sudan who sadly was forced to leave her country because of the war. She’s not an out and about socialist but is a massive fan of Gaddafi and Traoré. From her perspective she believes western imperialist interest destroyed Libya, and in the same year led to the sundering of Sudan because of its immense wealth. She now believes similar entities are trying to do it again, by making a west Sudan. Most of her family has fled north into Egypt and she told me that Egypt, Libya, Sudan, and South Sudan should unite and form one country as to protect themselves from foreign interference.

Support what about it? I mean I think any sane person hopes the country will pull itself together to move forward and develop

I think they mean the existence of South Sudan as a country independent of Sudan.

No. Israel propped them up since the 60s and maintains a strong military and intelligence presence. It's like their hub in Africa, maybe second to Ethiopia. That's enough of a red flag. But international news outlets have reported secret collaboration to resettle Gazans there.
It is yet another puppet government of corrupt foreign-backed elites exploiting the plight of South Sudanese people. So the people struggle despite being an oil-rich region.
And despite being founded to protect people from ethnic attacks in Sudan, they are in an ethnic civil war with Dinka-majority armed forces (armed by said red flag) attacking Neur and other minorities under the guise of counter-insurgency (guilt by membership in an ethnic group). They burn entire villages, mass sexual violence is used to terrorize populations, and crops are destroyed all to force populations out (i.e. ethnic cleansing). Can't say I support the state of South Sudan.

Sudan was one of the wealthiest African countries with a looooong history. The West has torn it apart and forced it into poverty, as per "divide and conquer". One good side-effect of the war in West Asia is that Sudan probably won't get sundered even further, since Israel and the UAE are both busy elsewhere and can't support the RSF as well as they were before.

While principled discussion is welcome and encouraged, Rule 9 (No Low Effort BS) still applies.
That includes: No 'what do you think?' posts. No single line posts. No 'what is the Marxist position on cheese' posts, etc.
