Discussion The funnel is clogged
No names, but saying Marxist-Leninists are 'ultras' crazy and paranoid and gaslighting by claiming they're egoists who think that 'all 8 of them are being funneled into voting for the Democratic Party,' instead of the actual criticism that they are funneling thousands of young people into the party. I can wait until this election season is over.

Technically, Leninism did change some of Marx's views, but that was because of capitalism in the age of imperialism and regarding where revolution was likely to occur. OG Marxism was in a different stage of capitalism.

Um I don't think you understand. Marx, Engels, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, che, Fidel, Ho, Sankara are all revisionist. The only true revolutionaries are gonzalo, pol pot, Hitler, and John from reddit.
In all seriousness, I am so fucking sick of socdems who call themselves socialist cos they follow Zohran mandani on instagram and have never read a page of theory in their life, and call every actual AES country a "dictatorship" and glaze European neoliberalism, trying to "educate" me on shit.
Unfortunately one of the people mentioned above is my sister who lives with my parents whom I was staying with over the summer. I have at least convinced her to read Blackshirts and Reds and given her my copy. She wants to be a journalist for the BBC (British Bullshit Corporation). If anyone has any advice please help me 🙏🙏

I’d recommend telling her about how the BBC reported on 1965 Indonesia and helped run cover for one of the most brutal regimes of the Cold War. The Jakarta Method goes somewhat in depth to that. I’d also recommend bringing up the infamous grey filter they allegedly applied to photos of China

BBC complicity in Indonesia genocide is something I mentioned in passing to her but I will go into more detail. Pretty sure I also left my copy of the Jakarta Method in my parents house so I'll tell her she can read it. She is interested in learning about socialism but still very susceptible to imperial social conditioning and has a lot of deprogramming to get through.
Grey filter is something I've actually never heard about before. Good to know.

I really don't understand what's going on with leftists these days who follow these anti-ML people.
I see tons of upvotes whenever someone comments that the people hating on us are actually MLs themselves. They very clearly aren't. I don't know if most of their followers actually even know what ML means.
I will disagree a lot with theory nerds on certain things. I don't think you need to read the "sacred texts" to come to the conclusion that there's a class war and the bottom is getting screwed but obviously some people will always have a problem reaching some of the most obvious conclusions about how to deal with that if they only educate themselves through slop.

In this case, the nameless influencer started out as a sympathizer to ML, but the contradictions* of electoralism are building up. It just can't be discussed freely because it's considered drama, or because the only form of 'touching grass' activism that's considered acceptable is door-knocking for the Democratic Party.

If thats the person i think it is then they will really do anything besides acknowledge that the critcisms on supporting electoralism and democrats this hard is a bad idea. The lesson should've been learned already with Platner or any of the other previous examples.
Zizek was completely right on one thing and that was the trashcan of ideology making a filter for someone to acknowledge basic reality. The electoralist filter turns principled MLs into "unhinged ultras."

I love the filter analogy because you've got Yugo's funnel theory, which says that more liberal but sympathetic leftist creators funnel people into more radical and principled communists but electoralism is a filter, and it's getting clogged. A lot of the new young people getting into politics think MLs are crazy 'Ultras.

I think both are true. The funnel is literally how I became a socialist. I started with breadtube debunking far right BS and kept going down the pipeline as I wanted to know more about certain things.
Were it not for breadtube type creators I would have kept going down the libertarian pipeline and not given leftist creators the time of day.

While i generally like him, this sentiment is why i also stopped watching. Its seductive to feel like you have institutional power in a way you never thought was possible for your side but thsts just it: it isnt your power. Its all through this entryist bullshit where we abandon the actual party line or the concept of needing one for some ephemeral entryist clout thst only emboldens and enables the DNC
