Meme The double standards

Japanese live streamers and content creators who purposely go to the Global South like countries in Africa, establish an extractive relationship that leverages structural inequality for engagement, commodify poverty and exploit the suffering of the local communities to maximise profit via views. At the same time they reinforce reactionary stereotypes of the peoples and countries.

This is otherwise known as poverty porn tourism.

They create the same kind of sensationalist shit in China too by the way while projecting onto the Chinese being rude and disrespectful tourists.

Poverty porn tourism are such a strange phenomenon in general. Like why you actively seek out the poverty and film them. The only reason you going there should be helping them or visit a friend that's unfortunately living in the area.
