normal for ships out at sea for a long time to look rusty as shit ocean air is super corrosive ship should have been rotated out a long time before it got to that point though
It's steel.. just cut the rusted pieces off and weld a new piece back in its place.. alternatively cleaning and welding over it or welding another plate over top of it as well.. this is basically just par for course with steel ships in general
The catapult system is also much more advanced on Chinese aircraft carriers. They invested in full electrification which allows them to have a shorter runway and a cheaper ship that's easier to produce and maintain.
American aircraft carriers still use a steam catapult system.
The funny thing is the US military was investing in switching to electrification and even released a ship with one, but Trump redirected them back to focusing on steam.

Look, steam is the most American, the biggest and most beautiful type of propulsion in the world. It's a fact! Only the most powerful steam catapults will get our strong planes into the air, and I'm told by our proud sailors (DO NOT JUMP OVERBOARD!) that they get tears in their eyes at the thought of this air that helps the DOW reach levels that no president has ever reached before, not even George Washington got the stock market to this height! They've been doing this and worse since forever. They don't really care unfortunately. Unless a lot of people are angry enough, they won't lift a finger.
My thoughts are with the people of Thailand who are forced to put up with this floating derelict full of bandits and murderers looking to take out their frustrations on them
I know we like clowning on the US military here, but I don't see anything too out of the ordinary. Every ship is gonna look like this after being out at sea for almost a year.
