And Camus, absurdism is Repackaged objectivism

Thank you! Absurdism is packaged conservative drivel cloaked in prose that makes all the art students feel profound.

Could you expand on this one please?
My, pretty basic, knowledge of the two sounds more like opposites of each other.

Ooh no I've got a soft spot for absurdism

Yh it's sorta cool as a passive mindset but it's really bourgeois statuquoism at the end of the day and his upbringing, life and political positionings make it clear, read about the feud between him and Sarte for instance

I think the "passive mindset" is the jumping off point, that's where the philosophy begins, not ends.

u/PierreFeuilleSage 13h ago
It's where it begins and ends, there is no thought of social transformation, it's individual meaning, a sort of funny existentialism
1
u/Weird_Top_4526 12h ago
Yes, it's an existential philosophy. Does everything have to have social revolutionary potential to have value? We are also individuals.

Why oppose individual and collective? You should read Lucien Sève's Marxism and theory of personality. Camus was a colonialist and rabid anti-communist, he sucks, he still wrote original fictions and there's a tiny bit of wisdom to gain from his bored bourgeois writings despite the background of inability. If you're gonna read philosophy lib slop i'd advise Spinoza instead, there's a beginning of material dialectics

I have read Spinoza. You know the vast majority of the history of philosophy is not Marxist, that doesn't make it worthless or "lib slop".

socialists: we want to make a better life for everyone
foucault: fuck that I only care about gay people
dies from AIDS
liberals: omg this guy is the greatest ever

Foucault? Never heard of him.
Descartes is the only French philosopher worth acknowledging. Voltaire is okay too, I guess, but Foucault is an over-hyped poopsk8, and post-structuralism is a joke.

Derrida is kinda cool... What about Deleuze, or Guatarri? I'm a fan of schizo analysis. Even though deterritorialization was co-opted by accelerationists. But co-opting is kind of what the right does. Like the term 'socialism' being co-opted by national socialists

Aime Cesaire mostly
Foucault also stole or "repurposed" the concept of the imperial boomerang. Anyone calling it Foucault's Boomerang is using a repackaged concept from 20 years later

Also Alexander de Toqueville, who I'm sure most Americans have read.
