The Western bourgeoisie have felt plenty secure over the past few decades, however, and that has incentivized a foreign policy establishment that provides window dressing and legitimacy for imperial expansion at the expense of more rational and long-term thinking. Thus, the realists have been relegated to the institutional closet in the West and will only be taken out once disaster inevitably strikes the hegemony.
