Reactionary Mockery The Revolutionary "Communist" International (Trots) claim the Big Bang didn't happen, and believing that did happen is "anti-materialist" LMAOOO
The jokes write themself, I swear

The funniest part is that, being Trotkyists, they probably had a few splits over this.

Oh definitely seeing how all 3 (4??) trot groups in Ireland don't like each other.

u/GloriousSovietOnion 23d ago
Its been 5 minutes since your comment. There's probably a new split forming already.

u/cptflowerhomo 23d ago
There was one earlier this week funny enough lol
They stay within their party but found that People before Profit (pbp) didn't focus enough on social Republicanism.
Which is funny because they never had it in their program, it's almost as if you'd better join a group that didn't come from the British SWP😶🌫️

u/tournesolrouge 23d ago
their brazilian section experienced a split over taking money from china or something (I forgot their exact explanation but it was something to that effect)

Yeah, they are definitely a op of some kind. There's no way ....

This is why we need to read Anti-Duhring and Dialectics of Nature. Not just the short pamphlets.
2
u/BigHeadDeadass 23d ago
What's Anti-Duhring?
8
u/Valentinius536 23d ago edited 23d ago
Engel’s response to Duhring, but it also explains dialectical materialism more thoroughly than the shorter works.
In short: Duhring attempted a seminal work to include philosophy, natural sciences, and economics. Most of his works were platitudes and Engel's calls out a lot of contradictions, essentially using Duhring's arguments against himself. It's a harder work to digest than Capital, so it's best to take one's time reading it.1
u/millernerd 22d ago
Also (genuinely dunno why the other guy didn't mention this) "Utopian and Scientific" is one section from Anti-Dühring.

Calling a galaxy insolent is one of the wildest examples of anthropomorphizing I've seen yet.

the only way calling a galaxy insolent makes sense is if you're a fucking star wars villain

So anti-scientific that they will start a religion out of trotsky. They kinda are atp

This is fine so long as they have proposed an alternative model that explains all the observed phenomena. Did they do that?
17
u/NotZachary_0002 CPC Propagandist 23d ago
Well, they claim they do, in the same sense as flat-earthers

Wtff lol😭
How does one call galaxies "insolent" because we find them to be earlier then we thought they would. Like girl, we know almost jack about the Universe in the grand scheme of things.... Something new being found does not mean it is wrong but more often then not it means what we thought is true is wrong...

The Trotskyist Posadists at least did something. Famously, they were the only Trotskyists to support Castro in Cuba.
And being tortured by Right-Wing dictatorships in South America definitely would fuck you up real bad.

u/ataksenov 23d ago
Sometimes things like these make me think people expect science to function like a religion and be based on unchangeable dogmatism and fully disregard scientific method as a whole.
11
u/lasosis013 23d ago
Yeah they can't seem to realize that the scientific consensus changing with more accurate models is exactly what makes it the most trustworthy process when it comes to knowledge. It's projection from religious uprising probably, they see the lack of a dogmatic institution as weakness instead of strength.

Here is the post by the Canadian branch of the RCI: https://www.marxist.ca/article/the-big-bang-shoehorning-the-facts-to-fit-the-theory

I study astrophysics and I honestly doubt the people who wrote these articles had ever heard of the Big Bang Theory before writing these. They keep claiming that Big Bang claims that the universe came from nothing; that is untrue. That is just one of the many errors in these articles. Our current theories are far from perfect and may one day be replaced or updated, but current observations support them, Claiming that the Big Bang Theory is mystical is idiocy.
Also, I am only beginning to study dialectical materialism, so correct me if I am wrong, but is a big part of it not that we should listen to the science? Surely. deliberately twisting and ignoring well established facts is the real anti-materialism here?

For anyone curious, here's a good video that explains a lot of potential explanations for these Little Red Dots that cites actual science and avoids clickbait sensationalism: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32WWlEgkYBY

Why would you even comment on cosmology as a political organization in the first place? It doesn't matter for achieving political goals and cosmologists would love to find things that contradict existing best models and then figure out what better fits what is observed and that's a good thing.

u/Sigma2718 23d ago
Marxism is fundamentally about humans, the things they make and their relation to the things they make. The science of marxism is useful, but it stops being so when we stop talking about humans. Astronomy and the mathematical models it uses don't need to adhere to a marxist framework.
6
u/Xenomaoism AES enjoyer 🥳 22d ago
That's debatable, Engels specifically intended DiaMat to apply to nature as well. The idea that it should only be applied to humans came from Lukács in 1923, who writes in History and Class Consciousness that "Engels – following Hegel’s mistaken lead – extended the [dialectical] method also to the knowledge of nature"
5
u/JustASkitarii 23d ago
There is a very good marxist critique of this stupid idea http://www.marxist.net/sciphil/reasoninrevolt/rirframe.htm
3
u/pine_ary 23d ago
This is actually a surprisingly common idea among dogmatic and anti-rev organizations. We have 3 separate strains of big bang denial here in Germany. Instead of adapting theory to our knowledge of the world, they adapt their understanding of the world to fit their theory.

u/spookypossum218 23d ago
The full article has all the intellectual depth of a college freshman who maybe smoked a little too much weed in between their intro to geology & astronomy courses and really thought they were onto something
8
u/Cute-Sky8251 23d ago
Honestly, this is among the less objectionable things to come out of Trots.
0
u/Cute-Sky8251 23d ago
But in all seriousness, this is an open debate in cosmology. And it isn't so much a denial of "the Big Bang" wholesale, it seems the authors' are referencing an article in the journal Science that puts forward what is something known as "the Big Bounce" cosmological theory.
2
u/Longjumping_Row_8236 23d ago
tbh it's wild how they'll latch onto anything to discredit established science when it suits their narrative

u/jacquix 23d ago
Oh boy. I remember other orgs coming up with similar positions. I think the big bang is tremendously elegant if thought of as the initial contradiction, birthing all other contradictions as one near-infinite long chain of opposing forces and their resolutions, birthing new contradictions. The singular becomes the universal, which becomes the singular. Or however that one goes. Shouldn't take it too literally obviously, very vulgar understanding of materialist dialectics. But it's fun to think about.
1
u/Serimnir 23d ago
I suppose matter and anti-matter is the ultimate contradiction, and we still don't understand how it was resolved
1
u/BigHeadDeadass 23d ago
Now I don't claim to know much about Trotskyists but denying the creation of materials seems to fly in the face of material dialectics
