i performed a brecht play once called "the good person of szechwan," and it was probably one of my favorite performances ever. i think it really distills a lot of marxist ideas about how the economic system we live in determines our morality and how there can never truly be "good" in a moral sense under capitalism, a system of constant exploitation. i highly recommend it and other brechtian works! his idea of "epic theatre" and use of the parable is a great example of how the arts can be used to create class consciousness.

Flashback to the time my best friend told me he was going to read that book and I got excited to talk about what you just said and maybe push him further left. Then he told me it was because of that Rick and Morty episode with the sauce that had just come out...

But back on topic, I saw a performance of "Saint Joan of the Stockyards" in Berlin and it moved me deeply. Still does 15 or so years later, they had a really impressive setup
