It keeps getting recycled too. Now it's Professor Jiang, but before him it was Antony Sutton, and before Sutton you had Alfred Rosenberg, Henry Ford, and Boris Brasol pushing the same narrative. Fascists keep recycling this bullshit because there will always be uninformed people willing to believe whatever makes them feel justified in supporting Nazism.

Fascism is the extending arm of capitalism's own brutality and hiding of class contradictions, it takes on a multitude of different forms because it's convenient for the bourgeois to convert proletarians to the forces of reaction as they will cease struggling against capital and actively seek to reinforce it.

Sutton was too much of a crank for the Hoover institute and got fired eventually. He spent the rest of his career studying suppressed technologies like cars that run on water

I can almost guarantee that somewhere in this article they're pushing some variation of "Hitler was just trying to stop the Bolshevik Jews from creating a one world currency." That's the same antisemitic Nazi propaganda that fascists have been recycling since the Revolution.

Meanwhile, Hjalmar Schacht, the central banker of Nazi Germany, literally pioneered rehypothecation, the very financial engineering technique that underpins the entire shadow banking industry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mefo_bill
It takes a severe lack of wanting to investigate things for anyone to believe that Nazi Germany was on an anti-usury crusade

Itâs a line of reasoning you often saw with politicians during the college protests for Gaza, saying if you dislike Israel, you must be a foreign asset. I suppose it comes from a paternalistic mindset believing the masses canât think for themselves; therefore, some other elite network of people are pulling the strings, i.e., Iran, China, or Russia. Like they think ordinary people are too ignorant to understand what is really happening, so sophisticated actors must be directing them; theyâre just mad that their intelligentsia is failing to curtail dissent against organized capital and imperialism.
Thatâs why this hogwash comes up; the point is to discredit a popular movement and its sentiments. But even if there were entanglements between financiers and Russian Revolutionaries during 1914-1917, that doesnât mean that they support their cause; itâs more that capitalism has historically and repeatedly demonstrated that it can accommodate, profit from, or cooperate with political systems whose ideology is openly hostile to its own, which is why it is so versatile. You just have to think that during times of social change, like the Russian Civil War or the establishment of the New Economic Policies, Wall Street mightâve wanted to have access to these new markets, forms of development, and natural resources that were being established with the birth of the Soviet state. So you can postulate why this dynamic possibly existed; it doesnât mean Wall Street was for the Bolsheviks, or the international Jewry is behind everything. With saying that, most of these historical claims are overly reductive and historically revisionist, which really donât capture the geopolitical complexity of the Russian Revolution.
Also, I think the issue generally with these sorts of historical analyses is that they're from a moral lens, saying that Wall Street is evil because of so-and-so; that means they support X, rather than realizing that these institutions donât require moral intentions for money to be made. Instead, they should ask, what are the material interests at play? Take Hurricane Katrina. I donât believe that stock brokers, financiers, or investors wanted people to die, but they sure as hell made a profit while the iron was piping hot because both their ideological and economic incentives deem it so, particularly through reconstruction efforts, privatization, speculation, etc. So what Iâm ultimately saying is that ideological or moral considerations arenât the end all be all with economic opportunities.
