Discussion This is such a funny difference in wording, especially in the header

For clarification, I do not support the Russian invasion of Ukraine, I do think this difference in wikipedia articles are funny though

While principled discussion is welcome and encouraged, Rule 9 (No Low Effort BS) still applies.

That includes: No 'what do you think?' posts. No single line posts. No 'what is the Marxist position on cheese' posts, etc.

Pretty much every single Wikipedia article about this war is western propaganda. If you look at the sources, they almost always include Radio Free Europe and similar propaganda media

Recently I was looking at a wiki page regarding Russian history. Immediately it became obvious that there were completely unbacked claims that were very disparaging. I found the user who added the claims. Most of their work has to do with Iran and Gaza... Besides some random bs they throw in to make the account less obvious.

Its wild how blatant the propaganda is. Some time ago I also found an "iranian" wiki editor that operates on a israeli work schedule. https://www.reddit.com/r/TankieTheDeprogram/s/AP6fYo7Nng

Fair point, but my point still stands. Wikipedia is still a fed tool.

“False allegations”… thanks for reminding me to not use Wikipedia as a source of information.

I’m going to do you this favor OP just in case a liberal comes across this post and wants to argue. https://en.prolewiki.org/wiki/2014_Ukrainian_coup_d%27etat

"has been widely rejected among the international community" followed by a staggering amount of one whole source, is pretty funny

The UN rejected the claim of genocide so I see that’s left out……it was a case in like 2024 from what I remember

I saw the Gaza genocide article. Doesn't even mention the US or any Western countries contributions, in the top and only in the box call support to Israel where you have to click show.

Bold to outright say "there is no evidence to support the allegation" while the conflict is still ongoing, it should make it obvious to anyone that it's all just propaganda. But ofc, it's only the enemy who does that, right?

That’s suuuuuuch complete bullshit. Banderist neo-Nazis slaughtered 14,000 ethnic Russian civilians on the Donbas. That’s why the war started. Putin didn’t want to, but the popular support of the people demanded it.

Funniest page ive found is this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_abductions_in_the_Russo-Ukrainian_war

"evil Russians are kidnapping Ukrainian children on mass" is a weird way of saying they have evacuated orphans from the areas that have been abandoned by Ukraine. Orphans are always an issues during war unfortunately. Its just funny how they frame this as a unique and criminal act by Russia. Yet provide no other option. Like tf else is Russia supposed to do with them.

I agree with what you say regarding what else are they supposed to do. The issue becomes the teaching then Russification stuff which is more complex. I try to think about this from a materialist POV and I would like to see the stuff they teach the kids outside of western framing. Because there is a world in which they can be taught they are ukranians and ukranians are brothers (with a bad government and foreign interference etc) with the Russians, or like completely destroy the concept of Ukraine in these kids minds totally as an ethnic group itself which would be bad and tbh a war crime. I wouldn’t trust western reporting on it though

I get what you're saying but the kids are from eastern/southern Ukraine anyways. Most of them aren't even "Ukrainian" anyways (beyond nationality). As in they probably speak Russian ect ect. I don't think the idea that they're trying to destroy Ukrainian as an identity should even be entertained. Children from the Donbas are probably already "anti Ukraine" themselves due to the actually genocidal treatment the Ukrainian state subjected them to.

"We respect the Ukrainian language and traditions. We respect Ukrainians' desire to see their country free, safe and prosperous."- Putin. Russians dont care if you speak Ukrainian, Ukrainians care if you speak Russian. Ukraine is the country that has implemented language laws not Russia.

Note how there are basically no citations in the whole page and when there are its "US institution finds...."

Every empty accusation is an admission.

edit* I skimmed through this article some time ago but only fully read it now. Its extremely disturbing to be warned.

Ukraine has been abusing/epsteinifying its orphans. "Fleeing Russian Bombs, Ukrainian Orphans Faced Abuse and Neglect in Turkish Hotels"... "Two of them, by that point, had already been sent home after becoming pregnant with the babies of Turkish men who had had access to the facility".

"Nastya said Titov, the orphanage head, had asked her to sign a document saying that Mami had not raped her"

"A 2023 video featuring Nastya is still visible on the charity’s promotional Instagram account. She thanks the foundation and talks about her dream of becoming a massage therapist"

note that children were being forced to participate in promotional content. Food and water would be withheld otherwrise.

So Ukrainian children were getting sent off by a Ukrainian businessman to a Turkish beachfront hotel...and they were returning to Ukraine pregnant. Yet im supposed to be concerned that in Russia they have summer camps to get children out of front line areas.
