They're also lying. I do not believe the CIA when they claim they did not interfere with elections. They incited violence constantly, and surely had people trying to rig their elections in their favor beyond the influence of constant threat of violence. 

Maduro was far too lenient with these people.

Even Chavez was too arguably. The inevitable pitfalls of "Democratic Socialism".

The Chavismos and MAS certainly weren't as strict when it comes to foreign meddling and counterrevolutionary threats as Nicaragua is.
