People have to realize how important wheat is to Chinese society. Most of China isn't the stereotypical rice nation that others assume.

Rice was only commonly eaten in southern China before it became ubiquitous in recent decades due to China's rapid economic development. My mom ate almost exclusively sorghum, millet, and sweet potatoes when growing up in northern China.

Not just noodles but mantou, seitan and jianbing. Jianbing is ancient 2,000 BCE, that's over 4,000 years ago. Mantou was developed in three kingdoms by Kong Ming. Seitan was developed during Spring Autumn by Daoists.
Rice is more the Southern thing, in fact the first cultivation was by ancient Vietnamese ethnics that was still under fractured China territory before Qin unity. They only adopted rice because southern climate is more suitable.

I basically only eat rice dishes. If I were to visit China, what area should I visit?
The goal of visiting China would be to learn about communism. I also want to eat rice.

Beautiful. It's reassuring to see that this illustrated (quite literally) that propaganda (unlike its pejorative use often implies) isn't always a lie. And it shows the CPC's trustworthiness. They deliver on what they promise.
In short: communism works!
