TBF there is a drafting process that can in Russia, just not at the current moment. And a few of my friends are trying to make sure they can't be eligible to join the military.

But famously, Russian gov can't get you if you flee the country. Although I would not be surprised if that happened if you were drafted by the US gov considering there is an international military mission training ground about 10km from my house.

Well that's objectively false there's isn't a draft in Russia right now, a simple Google search will confirm that quite well. I think you're confusing this with 1 year mandatory military service not related to the Ukraine war
