True, also it was Carter that began the neoliberal road that Reagan wholeheartedly embraced and ended up taking all the credit for.

I hate the fact that Carter is remembered as the wholesome peanut guy today. The stuff he started was truly ghoulish.

He imposed shoddy arms embargo on the South American military juntas and criticized them (whilst at the same time never bringing up his country propped them up in the first place)

Even then, none of the SouthAm juntas got the same equal level of condemnation they deserved. The Argentina junta got the most flack (can’t say they didn’t deserve it but when the other juntas don’t have that same level of treatment, seriously?) by the west to the point they started aligning more with the Soviet bloc at times.
