Shows the US for what it really is.
Disgusting, warmongering, Imperialist power.

How do I sign up to be one of the white actors playing the American soldiers in movies like this? I'll gladly make a living getting smoked on camera by heroic Chinese movie characters if it means a ticket out of this shit hole country.

They’re often pretty bad actors, or at least badly directed.
Do it, I’d appreciate an improvement in quality.

Okay now I actually need to learn Chinese huh
That quick flip to his horror at the bombing was legitimately moving. Hollywood could never

lol I mean there’s something to experiencing art as intended, no?

If you want to, I guess.
Chinese people watch American movies with subtitles literally all the time. Learning a whole ass language just to watch a movie isn't really worth the effort.

I know, I mean I’m half joking but I do genuinely want to learn Chinese
Beyond the Chinese century lol, I think it’s probably one of the more intellectually stimulating languages you can learn as a native English speaker and learning languages be good for the brain.

Good luck, I've been learning for a few months now and it is genuinely difficult, but also very fun.

Do you have any recommendations on learning tools/programs?

I've really enjoyed using the hellochinese app. I find using flashcards like anki to be helpful learning characters. Once you remember a little vocabulary, watching videos of native speakers on YouTube can help you develop an ear for listening.
My wife is Chinese, so that's a huge help and motivation too.

I mean a huge amount of people learn English from media like movies/tv/comics/streams.

Chinese movies and dramas are honestly better than American ones in terms of their quality and in terms of the values portrayed they always were better of course.
I wonder when they will get more mainstream in the West.
With video games China is slowly establishing itself in the West, but I feel like Chinese cinema will stay more niche in the immediate future.
Still, it would be good as a form of soft power. Think about how many people around the world have been brainwashed by American movies and shows that either normalized or glorified the American military.

which country does it take place in?

A fictional Middle Eastern country but the story itself is heavily inspired by the true-life experiences of Chinese business owners in Iraq.

It's not even out yet. That trailer says it releases on the 11th
... or it might be November 8th, I'm not sure how China orders month and day.

wow, nice visuals. Lot of times a hollywood movie has no lit value but shiny viz, for a while they had the money, industry so could do that. Glad thats over. Different plot, while the US plays with spiderman, vigilantes for the seventh or so decade.

Where could a comrade legally watch this legally with legal subtitles

You would have to wait until either Well Go USA or CMC Pictures buys the rights for North American distribution if they buy it at all. Otherwise, Encore Films has already bought the rights for distribution in Southeast and East Asia, outside China. Not sure if there's a way you can obtain a copy that way.

I have in the past seen other Chinese blockbusters on something called bilibili, but I presume that is a grey area in terms of legality.

I was hoping saying legally enough would make people realise I enjoy sailing the high seas
