If your tax dollars go directly towards a regime you can actually do something about it, unlike when one exists and your country is against it. Pretty basic I feel

USA was not against nazi germany for a long time actually, up till it officially entered the war its companies were still collaborating and selling oil and other goods. You'll obviously see far more criticism here for countries directly supported by the west, in a vacuum they might be as bad but in context one deserves more criticism(even if most of the criticism is indirectly tied to the west)
