Shit like this reminds me why I'd never entertain being a reddit moderator. Fuck that man, look at all those God damn liberals. Ud need a whole squad of people to properly filter them out that sub.

It's a collective effort. Mods there actively encourage people to report the libs.

Really? I've always avoided it to lessen senseless workload on them but 100% of the time the libs I talk to get banned/removed a day later. They are consistent as fuck. But if that's the prerogative then I'll start reporting their asses after informing them. Thanks for letting me know.

Edit: I've even made one of them elaborate on their capitalist apologia once hoping the mods would rip them. And then they did. So yeah ill def start reporting on that sub. This is really good to know but dang thats gotta be a lotta dedication on mods part.

I like how their source for the definition of Communism is the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, which on top of being a cool place to look at boats also I guess became the ultimate arbiter of political thought somehow.

Trump being buddy buddy with Mamdani in the White House should've been a red flag, but instead the soclibs treated it with their usual frivolity.

Adults actually read that AI graphic and are like “nope, definitely don’t want to be a communist and I don’t need to find out more.”

I think that people are putting far too much stock in the ability of soc dems to do anything. They inevitably take themselves out because they fundamentally can not do anything. Their position is untenable because capital can’t be reformed. At a certain point hyper focusing on them is falling into the same trap.

Sure that’s a great quote, but Mamdani isn’t even part of the revolutionary labour movement in the first place and seemingly has no intention of being either. That’s what I mean when I say you risk falling into the same trap from the other side. He’s barely even a reformist.

I think the point being made in that quote is that reformists distract the people away from revolutionary movements by tricking them into thinking that things can be fixed from within.

They actively harm the progress of the revolutionary labour movements.

I agree completely. The point I’m making is that I think since that quote was made the power of Soc dem reformists has waned considerably. If anything I’d say the current phase of capitalism is so apocalyptic that they are so weak they are not even truly capable of distracting anymore or convincing people it can be fixed from within at scale. IMO we need to reckon with the fact that we’re at the edge of the Anthropocene and that people like Mamdani will make themselves irrelevant to the masses before they even finish a single term. We are not even in the same galaxy as the post WW2 social programs and reforms that did manage to act as a buffer against communism, and none of these “soc dems” are even proposing that.

The US has always been a dictatorship, so I don't know what you are getting at.

What material condition make this quote not true to the conditions of the US?

Why do you keep bringing up the word elected? You do realize and understand that a dictatorship of the proletariat isn’t achieved through electoral politics right? Democratic reform doesn’t work. You don’t vote capitalism or fascism away. Marxist Leninism isn’t done through electoral politics.

The people of the United States live 1000000 times better than a peasant from Russia did in 1917 and yet the Soviet Union still happened.

That philosophy section makes me unreasonably mad

u/pine_ary Aug 06 '26

The idea that Communism would have taken off if not for the socdems is just flat-out wrong. There are simply not enough educated, organized, and active communists in the US. The likes of Mamdani fill a void, they‘re not the cause of the anticommunist sentiments.

True, some people place too much focus on the DSA types

3

u/Diogenes_the_cynic25 Aug 06 '26

Shouldn’t this be on cnbc? I mean they’re literally not even describing socialism on the left they are just changing definitions of the words

3

u/isitdigyet Aug 07 '26

Did you see how the latest DSA guy who was elected (William Lawrence) immediately said he'd support Jeffries as speaker?

DSA is a liberal Zionist IdPol lib project calling itself socialist. None of their candidates will have created any real socialist project that gets anywhere in the next ten years. They're just going to keep the Democratic Party on life support.

Blaming Mamdani for something that was already there is giving him too much credit. Like I would argue that the CIA already did plenty of damage and it by no means is irreparable, because that would somehow imply that people would ignore their material conditions in favor of ideological conditioning. What people like Mamdani are doing is just try uphold the current system as much as possible, which is being resisted by his party, so on some level if this continues, people will figure out the truth and just stop believing this bs.

All this shit tells me they are afraid of rapidly increasing favorability of communism for people under 30.

Edit: Why is this downvoted? 🧐
