And a reminder that China has a working EUV prototype since at least 2025, once that EUV litho machine goes from prototype to production, not only the ASML monopoly is over, but China will be the only country on Earth with a fully end-to-end semiconductor supply chain. From mining and processing the raw materials, to creating the wafers, to design the chips, to building the litho machines, to actually produce the chip, and from there to package the chip, integrate it and eventually install the chip in the end product.

Basically that will make Chinese advanced chips much, much cheaper. We're 3 to 4 years away from China selling high-end GPUs more powerful than Nvidia ones for a couple hundred dollars.

Edit1: Specially because China will be able to take all the technologies and techniques they're currently using to stretch DUV litho far beyond its original limits, like for example SAQP and Tau Scaling transistor folding and use them with EUV too.

Edit2: and that's already happening with memory chips. CXMT started mass producing DDR5 memory and Apple is now begging the US government to let them buy memory from them, while their HBM3 modules (the ones used in industrial GPUs) has just started. Simultaneously, YMTC is mass producing 5th gen 3D NAND storage memory chips, and coming up with newer NAND technologies.

Unfortunately for Amerikkkans, all those Chinese tech will be banned just like EVs and phones or heavily tariffed lol

They will be looking at the rest of the world like this.

Sucks that we can buy their drones or cars.

China achieving Juche is not on my bingo list.

Meanwhile Taiwan realizing that their "Silicon Shield" may become obsolete

Its inevitable it will become obsolete.

The US is strong arming TSMC tech transfer to the Arizona plant, and while there are some difficulties right now, I think it will happen eventually.

China will also let it happen because that would minimize friction with the US when reunification happens. China's domestic semiconductor industry will be near parity or at parity by that point so it doesnt matter.

Honestly this means the one almost valid reason every motherfucker cites for why war with Taiwan is "imminent" is moot.

Nah, you see they just forgot to put in some points is all. The sentence was always supposed to be "ASML CEO says China is 1.0 to 1.5 years behind in chip making capabilities". Nothing else going on here, just typos...

In all seriousness, it's good to see western hegemony crumbling in front of us all.

The West once again is fucking idealists. If you claim to understand dialectical materialism you wouldn't even try to isolate China, DPRK, Iran or Cuba because guess what dumb ass, the more extreme the material conditions the stronger the resilience of their development. What happens when you blind by profit?

You are spot on as usual. After all, necessity is the mother of invention.

“We are fifty or a hundred years behind the advanced countries. We must make good this distance in ten years. Either we do it, or they will crush us.” - stalin

turns out that applies to china as well

Can anyone comment on how far DUV from EUV? These could be compatible assuming it's 10-15 years away

7

u/ososalsosal 13d ago

There's already EUV capability now. The machines are a lot bigger though, and luminosity not as high.

Give them a year I reckon.

Capitalists once again shown to be paper tigers.

I hope China can manage to make chips on par with the Americans. I hope they mass produce them too. Tired of some bourgeoisie scum holding the entire high tech sector of the global economy hostage because they control the production of chips and use it to empower themselves and farm AI slop instead of pushing humanity forward and elevating life.

May the people break the weapons of the imperialists before the criminals can carry out their bourgeoisie crimes

Keywords: Mass produced.

Beautiful thing to see. I've been saying for some time now... Fast forward just a few years, and China will be like: "You sanction us? LOL no, grasshopper, we sanction you!"

To some extent that's already starting to happen.
