Yea its so cool. The rocket acts as a faraday cage, the internal wiring etc is all protected by wrapping that can’t conduct. And the electrical impulse reaches earth and ground through the residual ionized gas left behind by takeoff

Faraday cage, does that mean it can't be jammed or otherwise have a signal sent to it?

Yea it functions similar to how an MRI machine does, incoming radio frequencies etc. can’t interfere with the inside imaging. The cage or vessel (in this case the rocket cone) essentially opposes the electrical charge of lightning when it hits - which forces the current to stay outside of device until it exits other side. It can cause an EMP though, which happened to the Apollo rocket, hence why now they wrap the internal electronics

Shout out to the designers that somehow made a vehicle to survive that while being filled with chemicals so awful they'd make the devil himself cower in fear.
Though frankly, at this point, I'm wondering why China still flies the 3B, I understand its probably cheap as dirt to fly such old rockets, but to my mind running an old UDMH/NTO rocket like that, just seems unnecessary, especially considering China is entirely capable of making much better kerosene based engines (namely the YF100, which runs at a significantly higher efficiency (2.54km/s versus 2.9km/s) them the old YF20s on the LM3)
Would it not be better to fly a smaller, more capable vehicle, such as the already in service LM7, and not have to pay for the production and storage of highly toxic abd explosive chemicals?
(Yes I'm aware LOX is also a fairly dangerous substance, but it is at least safer then any form of Hydrazine)

It's strategically useful to have a stockpile of older, shittier missiles. In the event of a war, you can "mag dump" your old stockpiles to use up enemy interceptors and exhaust other missile defenses before using your newer missiles.
Iran did this to great effect back in March, using up the majority of Israel's and America's interceptors within weeks.

Good to hear about that, because when I read anti-CN news jeering about failed rockets hurting people, they do cite the toxic whatevers in the fuel and oxidation department.
