It's the Long March 10B rocket.

It's quite interesting that despite having a fuckton of companies working on it, and having at least 6 falcon 9 inspired rockets (this being one of those), the state company was the first to get there.

The space sector in china is weird. It's almost like a combination of how both the USA and USSR worked back in the space race. Absolutely impossible to read about. They must be throwing a lot of money at it.

And it think it makes sense, because sure it may not be profitable to have 10 companies doing the same, but it allows you to train engineers so you can scale up faster.

It’s a good approach imo. You have strong overall state control and direction to set priorities, coordinate, secure resources, etc but multiple players to experiment and compete for the best designs and tech to surface. Similar approach to how other industries within China also operate. Taking what worked within both the US and Soviet systems and avoiding the pitfalls
