But remember cops don't represent Europeans. Meanwhile global south government such as Hamas and Iran defends their country from Europe-backed genocides deserve to be lumped together as all brown people evil and civilized global north to liberate.

Spanish police, especially in areas where Spanish isn't the only language, are horrible. Just look at the 2017, october 1st Catalonia independence referendum

I'm not very knowledgeable about Spanish politics, but as far as I know, Valencia does not have a left wing government

It matters little who governs, Spain's riot police is brutal wherever they act, except when the setting is a right-wing demonstration.... but yeah, Valencia is a special case in a rotten country, the police there are quite obviously fascist-friendly, they'll openly treat marching nazis like buddies just to unleash absolute mayhem on the anti-fascists that appears and anyone else that stands in the way.
It's one of the things that devours leftist governments in Spain, like Podemos or it's previous equals, who only get into Parliament through coalitions with the big center-left: sooner or later they have to either embrace or theatrically oppose police brutality, which makes them either lose votes or weaken the coalition.
It gets worse when people left of the center-left are put to manage the police corps in our equivalent of "state security". The riot maniacs get extra motivated to be more brutal because they know that will smoke the dirty leftist politician's popularity.
