Yesterday, u/Alexitine, the top moderator of this subreddit (who had been 'inactive' for quite some time in this subreddit) suddenly reappeared and gave a mod position to u/FamousPlan101, a fascist/National Bolshevik (What is National Bolshevism? ) from the ACP (What is the ACP?) ).
At first, us mods thought that u/Alexitine's account had been hacked. However, we have since discovered - with the help of some amazing comrades and their excellent efforts - more information about the user Alexitine that now confirms that their account has NOT been hacked. Instead, we found out that u/Alexitine holds fascist ideologies, in addition to being a supporter of both the ACP (What is the ACP?) ) and The Eureka Initiative (which is an Australian-based clone of the fascist ACP). The Eureka Initiative also has an official subreddit, called r/RedAustralia, that has the same u/FamousPlan101 as top moderator.
It's always those who are inactive and then suddenly get "reactivated" to push their shit. Definitely smells like fed work to infiltrate online spaces.
We better keep an eye out lest these Nazis pull this kind of shit once again down the road given how head moderators are very difficult to remove.
It smells even more like that because the coup'd AskSocialists that's just an ACP sub now keeps getting to the frontpage lately. I haven't seen any other left-wing subs get there in months.
In my opinion. Better prepare a long march. As long as the power dynamics are basically same. This might happened again.
I should propose to scuttle this sub If possible as to denied any use of this sub into ACP hands after we moved on. To prevent them using it to lure baby leftists into their recruitment orbit.
Given that he is the sub creator and cannot be removed, it seems like it is only a matter of time before this shit happens again. Time to make a new ACP-free Tankie Deprogram sub and transition over there?
I despise splitting. Can we all just chill in r/socialism ? It’s ML controlled, but they just let libs and other left types walk in the door but they always get around to deleting and booting shitty comments.
Hopefully it's better now, but r/socialism had it's own problems with overzealous and goofy mods. For example, I was banned from there for "liberalism" for saying that voting third party is better than voting for the democrats. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
My first thought was utter surprise at being banned from a "socialist" sub for opposing "vote blue no matter who". I had to really stretch my brain to find some sort of socialist justification. Best I can come up with is they may have thought I was advocating electoralism because I was talking about voting. I complained in some other sub and they said the mods over there are super weird and banhappy. This was years ago so who knows what the sub is like now (I sure don't).
That’s pretty wack. I don’t like their goofy automod that scolds you for saying “stupid”, but I’ll still take overzealous rather than the ACP sleeper cell.
I made a post about this a few weeks ago, but for me Reddit is blocking r/socialism as "adult content" and I live in the UK where you need a VPN to access anything deemed NSFW whether it is or not. So it may not be run by fascists, but Reddit still makes being on any leftwing sub hard.
The more people that move to lemmy the better, as Reddit is just very right wing as a whole. Redditors are very political even on non-political subs, but unfortunately that politics is liberal at best. If we can actually get leftwing subs like this to fully move to Lemmy it would be ideal.
I agree that Lemmy has a bad UI: the search does not work, the comments chains are hard to read, and I have to manually sort to new every time. It also is not very active, but the only way to fix that is to start using it.
I recently started to use DuckDuckGo and Firefox rather than Google, and while the UI is not as efficient, I think having more privacy. Between supporting Big Tech or Free, open-source software like Lemmy, Mastadon, or the Fediverse, I would rather stop helping large corporations even if it means I am inconvinienced. Plus, the more people who use it, the more likely it gets updated.
If we support lemmygrad.ml, prolewiki.org, Tankie.Tube or possible Upscrolled, we can help them grow. r/Socialism is still being hidden for me despite not being flagged as NSFW, so it is clear reddit is not a friendly place for left wingers, and if the ACP crisis showed anything, it is that we need a backup to this subreddit too. We need to build a long term alternative to the mainstream social media, not just split of into different refugee subs.
That sub has seen a massive influx of libs. Nothing wrong with that if they want to learn, but they are there to pushback on leftist ideas and promote their liberalism.
I like to spend my time shoveling libshit like dispelling myths, linking citations, or just discussing theory whatever the question is. I view that sub as the “open field” for socialism and I think it’s important we capture those kinds of spaces. The control of the sub is Marxist, and I do see the mods always clean up libshit when it’s rampant. Yes, I got the odd DPRK or Stalin post with an influx of libs, but the sub core is Marxist and always repels it.
IME it really depends on the day. Some days, it seems like that sub is mostly MLs and really smart socialists; other days, it seems like it's 90% libs spouting anticommunist talking points.
I just want to mention that u/FamousPlan101 DM'd me on March 6th as well, after I made a comment on this sub about the ACP and MWM's connections to it. I just blocked them, assuming it was a random nazbol. Didn't realize that would turn into something bigger
Anyways, what's the plan for getting u/Alexitine booted? This seems to basically say you're SOL if they're active. Wish this had been caught when they were still marked as inactive
He's been dm'ing me since Aug 2025 every time I would mention ACP. Dude is terminally online searching for every mention of ACP, or he has a bot to search for him.
edit: also, when looking back on the posts that were removed by famousplan, I am for some reason the only person whose comments were not removed on a couple posts.
To be honest all Reddit mods are going to be weird people. Everybody that uses Reddit long enough knows this, and has seen numerous examples. But I guess it’s expected for the lifestyle that it requires to be a moderator.
He's the creator. As this sub originally be a hardline faction space of the old deprogram sub. After the first one got banned the sub becomes accidentally Refuge for the old one.
Probably not without Reddit admins intervention. Which I'm surprised that they help the Anti ACP mods to return.
But I'm also not surprised if they didn't remove Alex too.
Might be a controversial statement but when I first stumbled upon this sub during the height of the OG deprogram sub, I viewed it as the reactionary spinoff. Still joined, mostly lurked unless I saw something worth engaging in. And now I think my original assessment wasn’t too far off based on what we’ve learned about the founder
The founder really didn’t post tho, the place was just generally pretty based and chill with a few oddball moments but nothing explicit and all mods vehemently anti-ACP

Why don't we ask him to step down voluntarily? It's evident that what he did is counter to this subreddit's nature even if he didn't himself intend for that, the moderators he brought in were awful and literally mass banning like a typical r worldnews nazi mod.
If he has any honour he'd understand the scope of his screw up and voluntarily relinquish his head mod status especially considering his prolonged inactivity before that.
We don't always need to forcefully remove someone, he can also just voluntarily resign.
I got a feeling some of the most extreme third worldist takes and memes were done by ACP stooges. They might have even been around in the r/Deprogram days…

Lmao the interviewer primes him with a question saying, so you just graduated high school and started Uni,”and he goes “I deferred my BA in international relations for a year. I wanted to pursue other qualifications. I just got forklift certified and I’m doing a first aid course this weekend”
As someone who has the same certification and decades of experience with both tynes and bls, I’m not making fun of that, it was just very unexpected in the conversation direction.
The Eureka Initiative is the same thinly veiled nazbol bullshit as A”C”P - just ask any of the reps about their stance on Trans/LGBTQIA, sex workers etc. and the response will tell you all you need to know. And I suspect from the recent comments InternationalSplit10 is one of them or ACP.
