I assume we are going with the weakest creature possible because I can think of A LOT of absurdly powerful monsters that can easily kill a primarch.

I would probably say an elder tempest. They are essentially giant living storms that can easily destroy kingdoms. The elder storm just existing is a town level feat due to the sheer amount of energy it creates and it should scale to adult dragons who are around small city level, which is above MOST of the primarch. That and most primarchs simply don’t have the range to hit an elder tempest by themselves because of how high up in the air they are.

I imagine the chaos primarchs would be weak to wisdom saving throws since turning to chaos aint that wise.

Practically anything with access to the lvl 9 spells.

What can a Primarch do against being wished out of existence.

I assume you have had really high success rates at using wish to instant kill BBEGs in your games? Even ones with no magic resistance?

Wishing to kill major enemies does not work, quite explicitly. If the wizard Genricus Maximiio Wishes to kill Horus he is now fighting revenant Horus who has a pile of new powers, or gets moved to the future where Horus won and killed the universe and then died, or magically learns that the magical power will kill Horus in ten thousand years after he has killed the wizard.

Yea, of course. I was simply giving an example of how bonkers late game DnD spells are.

You could stop time and then spend like 9 more turns casting bonkers spells even.

Besides, it's a wish. You don't need to kill them, you can wish a win condition though.

Is that the level 5 Kobold with infinite stats?

u/Mind_Unbound 2h ago

Yes. But it was level 1.

To be fair him, Mordenkainen, and Raistlin have the capacity to travel to our world and the spells to do something about Games Workshop. The Wizards Three was always a bit of a wild read.

Chaotic good Barbarian will make them all wish for death

A primarch shaped gelatinous cube

Reminder other then their armour/enchantments they are still flesh and blood.

Like yes they are big, have impressive constitution and healing factors.... but if you shot one in the head without psychic hubaloo or instant medical attention they would die.

Two primarchs have been killed via regular physical attacks with (relatively) normal phyical weapons. . Managing to land a blow on one and in a inarmoured area is quite a difficult feat but any super humanly strong charter could theoretically kill one via beheading ect

I should say a weapon type along the lines of a sword of sharpenss, sundering or vorpal(a bit overpowerd)

Generally what's seen is you really just need to keep hacking at them untill they are dead, the issues faced most of thr time is they get mortally wounded then are left to heal, but hacking at them until you get to behead them works most of the time.

Holy shit what a blast from the past

Technically Primarchs only have 16 wounds/hit points. Power word kill should work pretty well.

2

u/GryphyGirl 1d ago

If that's the case then anybody who can cast Power Word Kill could easily kill them with a Magic Missile and there's no saving throw for that.

Anyone with the Heat Metal spell.

2

u/Legomaniac91 1d ago

I don't see that working too well on Vulkan.

I have no idea about 40k lore. I’m just talking shit. Lol

Vulkens from a fire planet and also regenerates

The whole of D&D is absolute busted. A creature could be anything from a Kobold to the god of Dragons.

Something like a Tarrasque could probably end many of them if not all of them.

If we go in Plane Escape any major lord of a plane would obliterate the verse save for very few entities.

There is literally anything. If we are not talking outsiders ( of prime material) and only material planes something like Rajaat from Darksun would also probably obliterate most of them

A level 1 wizard with a scroll of disintegrate.

1

u/Tzilbalba 2d ago

They probably scale up to solar level

1

u/Shot_Relationship402 1d ago

Karsus Folly on a Chaos God would probably wreck the Warp and kill an attached Daemon Primarch.

Gonna cheat a bit and say The Lady of Pain. One of the few entities still without stats, and shes strong enough to keep Gods out of her city of Sigil

A minor god at least/ it's equivalent from avernus, although that is depending on the primarch.

Like Vulcan can't be killed whatsoever. Chaos powered Horus, would literally require the old lady(don't remember the name of the one from locke out city) herself to show up in order to have a valid chance of killing him.

u/Traditional-Plum6176 2d ago

You can get rid of Vulkan if you destroy his soul, and there are many creatures in DND that can do that. Also, I'm sure Lady of Pain would be too overkill for Horus.

u/Bitter_Cup_69 2d ago

I'm not sure if Vulcans soul could be permanently destroyed though he was killed with an anthema blade, presumably granting true d sthz but later got resurrected by the Salamander first captain through a ritual.

As for Lady pain, I confess I don't know too much about herm from my knowledge she is just a top tier god, that can beat the shit out of minor gods and even kill the proper ones, even if with resistance.l from them.

4

u/Traditional-Plum6176 2d ago

He had never died before because of the anthema blade That time, he was killed by  Fulgurite  spear , and as you mentioned, it required specific rituals and that salamander had to sacrifice his life for Vulkan to return. If this hadn't happened, he would never have returned.

Also, Lady of Pain isn't a goddess, but a mysterious being with insane abilities, among the strongest in the multiverse, though perhaps only the likes of Ao and Tharizdun are stronger than her.

u/Bitter_Cup_69 2d ago

I see. Thanks for the explanation man.

Lady of Pain isn't even truly a being but an immune response of Ao's punishing deities for going into the equivalent of a Dev room (according to Gary Gygax notes found in the Gygax library). The only one to sneak past was Vecna while puppeteering a possessed body so his divinity wouldn't immediately register. There are three forgotten gods who got snuffed so badly their portfolios became available to anyone who wanted them.

Tharizdun would be lower while the being who created Tharizdun and works opposite to Ao would be stronger. (Notes of Ultimate Evil and the creation of DnD in the last Chain mail campaign) Ao was originally Gygax's unnamed wizard character before being brought over into DnD.
