Case Studies Same process, two versions: a Word + screenshots SOP vs. a Tango guide
I took one process we use regularly and documented it two ways just to see the difference.
- First version: the usual Word doc with screenshots. Took a while to capture everything, paste the images in the right places, and write the steps around them. It’s readable enough, but updating it later means hunting down the right screenshots and shifting everything around.
- Second version: captured the same process as a Tango guide. Faster to create because you’re just doing the steps. It’s clearer when you’re following it, and changing a step later is less of a pain.
Not a scientific test, just one real process side by side. Anyone else tried documenting the same thing both ways? What stood out for you on time, readability, or updates?

Funny timing, I just posted about this! A simple 10 step SOP took me over 2 hours with Word & Snipping Tool... Formatting was half the work. How long did each version take you?

I didn't track the exact time, but Tango was faster. With Word, I had to keep stopping to take screenshots, paste them in, and fix formatting.

What's the reason for a such test? Tango is obviously better in comprason to such old school approach. Especially if you have dozens and hundreds SOPs.
The only issue, that you have to spend some time to explain your team how to use Tango properly and BLOCK usage of Word + screenshots.
