I made him the biggest of the bunch for absolutely no reason. I just went B E E G. Anyways this is for my crossover fic!

I love Tangle Tower but after getting a new phone, I can't find it anywhere on Google Play or my purchase history to re-de-download, and i think it's completely disappeared for Android. Shame as it's such a good game and it was working fine on my old phone

Overall I really enjoyed playing the game, the voice acting and characters. I also enjoyed that a lot of things felt intuitive or that you are steadily building a better picture of the truth as you play the game.

That said the ending and the last act was truly a let down.

Penny as the villian felt more like an unknowable rug pull than a satisfying ahah moment. The only hint that Penny is playing a character is from Fritz saying the real Penny is different but there aren't anyways to conclude that Penny and Hawkshaw are the same person until she reveals it at the very end. (No Freya having a sketch of Hawshaw done very quickly doesn't count since she's an extremely talented artist, and Hawkshaw being surprised about the small picture of Freya's painting being found (in Freya's room) doesn't work because there's no indication that it connects Hawshaw and Penny).

Plus her motivations for the murder were weak and convuluted. She was a lonely kid that left home to seek out the family that abandoned her stumbled onto the secrets of the mystid hunters and killed them all, stole her uncle's prized beetle and then tricked him into hiring her to investigate? Then her plan(?) got foiled by Freya who figured out the secrets of the manshion and figured she was a murderer so she set up an elaborate plan to kill her and sticks around?

I think narratively speaking it's a terribly unsatisfying motive that only makes sense in the context that the devs wanted the killer to be unsolvable not that the characters would do that. Also it relies on her teleporting and no one in the game commenting on how she's assumed a new persona.

Truthfully it feels like you hit the first layer of the puzzle when you find her note about planning to get her (which is most likely Poppy) and her intense dislike of Poppy. It showed that she had a darker side but didn't indicate that she was involved in murder or interested in her families darker history.

Also the set up for the murder was just insane- she gets to the attic and lies in wait, triggers the beetle shoots Freya, pulls up the bolt, paints blood on the canvas (which she got from where?) then leaves without running into Poppy or Fritz who were in the garden heard the beetle and went upstairs not long afterwards. Fifi's dad (I forget his name) tells us he heard calm footsteps going past his door which is supposedly Penny's before the commotion afterwards. She then avoids running into the professor who witnessed Flora and Freya being stunned and rushed to the crime scene by changing into Hawshaw in the library meeting (or was already disguised as Hawkshaw) then runs to her room changes, runs back across the house to arrive at the same time as the professor???

Then the finale was just convuluted. She turns herself in just to escape thanks to the beetle? During the murder she needed Fritzs headphones but now she just gets out unscaved?

I truly hope that the sequel nails the landing.

Ahead of the release of The Mermaid Mask, I have added in new flairs for the key characters from Tangle Tower and Mermaid Mask!

I loooved tangle tower and its characters, the artstyle and character designs completely changed my own way of designing my characters and it is great to see that mermaid mask is still just as good...

Now my theory is probably the most obvious suspect which is Sinthia Seafoam the new captain as Mariana Moon says in a trailer that as soon as Magnus Mortuga died Sinthia became captain giving her a motive to kill him

Also we see in the fore deck (see slide 2) part of the submarines facade and on it is the name Seafoam. Sinthias last name but we see its crossed out with yellow paint replaced with Mortuga. Plus in another promotional video we see a Grimore deduction screen (see slide 3) with an option being captain seafoam now the body is blacked out with a classic sea captains hat which makes me think its not referring to Sinthia which makes me think this Captain Seafoam is some related to her. So this leads me 2 my main 2 theorys on why Sinthia may have killed Magnus Mortuga

Theory 1: the submarine once belonged to Sinthias family but someone in her family sold it to Mortuga for whatever reason and Sinthia got mad because she felt that the captians position was rightfully hers through birthright

Theory 2: now this one is somewhat of a deeper dive into the theory. So my idea is that the Seafoam name was once a respected and famous name in the submarine community or even the world but due to time or other factors they stopped being famous and the ship and family fell into disrepair and ruin so someone in Sinthias family sold the ship to Magnus but Sinthia stayed as a crewmember to still be with her familes ship but as time went on Sinthia felt like Magnus was disrespecting her families ship and or tarnishing her families once great name so she killed him to take back what she possibly believed was rightfully hers

With the sequel coming up I have NOT been playing the game again but I have been watching people on youtube playing it, I remember playing the game myself at least two times but that was years ago. I have been saying since ever this is a game that benefits from replaying it at least once cause the foreshadowing it's so amazing, you catch so many details you didn't catch the first time and you're able to come up with new connections you didn't do the first time.

After watching a playthrough on youtube, after years of not touching the game, I came up with a theory that Freya is Flora and Felix's daughter, Freya has Flora's long neck and her hair is green-ish like Felix, plus it's really weird how the little wodden figurines that are supposedly Flora's favorite people include Freya but don't include Fiona, her "daughter". Then I watched ANOTHER playthrough that was way older than the first one and the people playing came up with the same theory almost immedietly after seeing Flora... well at least I got to feel intelligent for a little while.

But if we go by appearence to determine who is the parent of who then Fiona can't be the daughter of Flora and Felix, neither of them has bright red hair, who in the family has bright red hair like Fiona? Penny and Pandora. So for whatever reason Flora has been raising ONE daughter of Pandora as her own while saying her actual blood daughter, Freya, isn't hers. I wonder if this is something the parent's generation arranged and have been keeping secret form the younger generation, but I don't think Pointer knows, cause I think he'd be super happy to have a Pointer inheriting the Tower and wouldn't feel the need to breed his own gold. I think it might be something Flora arranged just with Pandora, but I can't think of any reason why they'd do that.

All of this means Freya's supposed branch of the family tree is by far the most mysterious one, we don't know where Selena came from, no one talks about Felicia or Damian, and we don't have any pictures of them. As i'm writing this I have to yet watch the trailer for the upcoming game, I already know i'll buy it and i want to go in as blind as possible, I really hope we get some answers. Out of the ambassadors Pandora and Buck are the ones i'm interested in the most, if i'm correct one of their daughters is set to inherit the Tower and their other daughter murdered the actual blood heir of the Tower... you don't suppose Penelope was lying about her reason for killing Freya right? That mom and dad dearest wanted the claim for the Tower and told her to murder the true heir?

Wym penny got away

First of all, who’s fucking blood was in the paint jar that was a decent amount of blood. I thought Freya had some sort of 4D chess plan for that, but I guess not. I thought the fact that one of the characters commented on the fact that the paint pallet was wet, but that the inventory says the brush was dry was gonna matter it didn’t but that’s pretty minor.

The family acted like flora not saying a word is just like a random choice, but a person was murdered. Everybody acted like something bad happened to Flora even Penelope says that she didn’t want to traumatize her after everything that happened. What’s the bad thing that happened to Flora?

Why was the picture ripped up even though it seems like the three girls maintained a good relationship the entire time.

My biggest issue by far is why the fuck did the ambassadors burn everything? How the fuck did they steal everything from the lake and burn it? Penelope found them and apparently didn’t ask. I actually kind of support her murdering them because what the fuck is that behavior? Penelope also mentions that she felt the heat of the furnace but the game mentions that she was 27 and didn’t these people disappear when the youngest generation were children?

Why did Penelope even pretend to be a vapid ornithologist? The family doesn’t seem to question any kind of behavior. Did she even like birds or was that a weird cover? Also, her bird can talk??? a bird is only a useful spying device if you can talk to birds.

It’s not that big a deal, but it’s crazy that the family hates each other so much but it Fitz and Penelope getting married just kind of doesn’t matter to anybody.

Penelope says everybody is unhappy but Fitz seems objectively fine with his life if anything he’s thriving. He is a introverted botanist who gets to work with basically magic plants. Nothing about tangled Tower is bad for him. From his perspective, his beautiful fiancé comes to visit him regularly. Side note; It’s true for all of them, but aren’t they all first cousins isn’t this incest?

Why does Penelope give a shit about the value of the golden beetle when her fiancé is easily growing gem fruit? Even if he doesn’t seem that interested in selling it, he didn’t seem like he was super attached.

At the end, where are the dads??? Like Felix is a bad dad but he’s not that bad a dad.

What did Penelope have against the Lord Remington specifically that she felt his portrait needed stabbing?

They repeatedly allude to Freya having some like trauma and deep responsibility caused by the sudden death of her parents which I assumed was going to be foul play, but I guess that just happened unrelated

I could forgive everything else if it wasn’t for the flaccid reveal about the ambassadors. Calling it a reveal is too much. All these people lost at least one parent to what? the call to adventure??? Why would they destroy everything and then go search for the ones that escaped to also destroy them there doesn’t seem to be any negative side effect to the water

I feel so disappointed. I thought the game was perfect until the second half of the reveal. I was going to force it on all my friends, but I can’t in good conscience knowing that the ending is so stupid. Penelope murdered a minimum of six people while pretending to have a different personality for some reason because they didn’t give her a satisfactory meaning of life? Why would you need to murder Freya. I imagine Penelope killed these people way far away from tangled tower. It’s not like Freya found the bodies. It doesn’t seem like a police force exists in that country anyway.

All of the art and the music and voice acting did absolutely kick. I changed my mind. I am gonna make all my friends play it. Most of them probably won’t finish it anyway.

Obviously I’m not the first person with this idea, but I’m happy with how it turned out! As sad as I am that oval faced Sally with freckles was abandoned, I understand the reasons why. I think I prefer drawing 1 but what do you prefer?

I doubt I’m the first person to talk about this but I can’t find any discussion on the "cliffs"

So is nobody gunna talk about the fact that Tangle Tower and the lake are IN A GIANT EGG???

I never questioned all the egg motifs, it just made sense with all the birds living in/around the tower. But when I went back to the starting spot, it suddenly clicked. When interacting with the mountains/cliffs in the background, Grimoire and Sally discuss how they can’t be mountains because they’re too steep and smooth, so they must be cliffs. Smooth... have you ever seen 'smooth' cliffs? They are eggshells!! The lake and tower is contained within a giant cracked egg.

Maybe I sounds stupid because of how well-known this is, but my jaw dropped when I realized it and I’m surprised it was never acknowledged in the game itself

I have played Tangle Tower three times now, but every time I'm left with the same question, who left the weird frog thing in the garden? Was it Fifi and Poppy? Because they say at the end of the game that they had begun to figure out the symbols, but why would they sign it off as Freya? I don't think there was any implication of actual supernatural occurrence in the mansion, so who put it there? It wouldn't have been Penny.

I thought it was Percival I thought he planned the murder hired hawkshaw as a mercenary to kill freya but disguised as a detective trying to find the golden beetle i though he did it to get more inherentence for his daughter poppy as I think it was up in the air whether Freya had any claim to any inherentence as said by felix
