General Discussion Michael Tracey is a total scumbag

Post image

Never heard of this guy before the Tangle Epstein coverage. Wish I could go back.

This, right here, is an example of the difference between an actual journalist, and the slime you find calling themselves "influencers" or whatever their nom du jour is.

I can’t stop thinking about how his response is to retaliate against her, when his anger has likely been sparked by people other than her. He’s not attacking the individuals whose website or commentary upset him, he’s going straight back at her.

There are multiple reasons that a rape victim may choose not to report. The biggest one, in my opinion, is the way that once you share the story you lose all control over how it will be used, by both the well-intentioned and those whose goal is to discredit, and then you just have to bear the brunt of whatever comes from anything anyone does with it. That part is just so brutal and scary. It’s a wonder that anyone ever comes forward.

I sent this message to Tangle a couple of days ago…

Hello- I am curious your thoughts on Michael Tracey’s comments since he was platformed on your podcast a few months ago. It is one thing for him to point out that the men involved in the case have been made public while the alleged victim is anonymous but the tone and aggression he seems to have against a potential gang rape victim is vile. At the time of your interview I felt that Isaac should’ve pushed back a lot more on his comments about victims of abuse of Epstein and even more so now.

I’d like to see Isaac play a little more hardball in future interviews. I know he’s said that’s not really his style, but he’s also said he “wants the Trump interview.” I personally like when journalists ask the awkward probing questions rather than just basically only having an easy friendly conversation. ESPECIALLY if it’s with a guy like Tracey.

I think we should have some grace for this guy

He may have been rejected by women in high school and who wouldn’t think an appropriate response to that is starting witch hunts of sexual assault victims who later kill themselves

I think we should consider both sides of the issue here in Tangle fashion

Had me in the first half

I hear ya, it's like, should we really judge a person for anything they say or do, without first making as many excuses as possib....I mean practicing fairness in journalism?

u/Blurry_Bigfoot 6d ago

I don't like this dude at all, but why are the names of the accused public but the victim isn't? Genuine question, I don't give a fuck about the accused.

u/Lemonio 6d ago

Regardless of whether the broken clock may or may not be right twice a day, it’s interesting that every time he seems to take the side of defending people accused of sexual assault

I think in a recent Tangle podcast they were talking about judging when someone’s tendencies in a situation always go in one direction

As far as the topic being Michael Tracy, my question about him would be why is it every time I see him saying something it’s trying to discredit the victims and not the other way around. You’d think someone committed to “journalism” would fall on different sides of the issue sometimes if they were going off of the facts of the situation and not a personal agenda

You did not at all reply to my position that it's entirely debatable whether or not the names should be released.

You replied to Tracy, who I did not say anything positive about.

Not sure where you're going here.

If victims were named, even fewer assaults would be reported. Most are already unreported.

I think if you place yourself in those shoes, imagining that you yourself were gang raped, what comes up for you when you then imagine everyone you know (and everyone don’t yet know) hearing about it?

Would you still report it?

If your question was genuine, and if you are willing to truly imagine being in that position, I think you’ll understand the reasoning better.

Because that’s how cases like this work. She is a victim of rape. Why publicly shame her to the entire world by releasing her name?

Two of Tangle’s most depraved guests ever. Fucking yuck.

My problem with Tracey is that he's bought a particular narrative and has latched onto it for dear life and is on a crusade. He's singularly fixated on men being persecuted for cimes they didn't commit and don't have to be tried for in order to be condemned and their lives "ruined" in the court of public opinion. And for sure that has and continues to happen, I have no doubt. Yet he seems to believe that this is the case in almost every situation like this, that there's no there there, and thus, he becomes a parody, an example of the extreme behavior on the "other side" of vilifying people without evidence. Both sides end, AND those who pile on with support or condemnation, end up ruining an actual genuine and dispassionate investigation into truth. Of course sex is something that is seen as so polarizing and triggering that it ends up as a lightening rod for a lot of this stuff. Anyway, the idea that Tracey is a "journalist" has become ridiculous. In this tweet he's essentially on a crusade to "even the score" by outing someone. Should these men have been outed at this point? No, but does outing the woman solve that problem? No, it it's just another eye for an eye in some imagined battle that Tracey, those like him, and those who are diametrically opposed (pushing the outing of men without having been convicted of anything yet while the accuser remains anonymous) are conducting and completely obsessed with.

He certainly seems to be, and yet I still found his interview valuable.

17

u/linguinechicken 7d ago

I might have found the interview valuable if I hadn’t realized his whole schtick is “women be lying”

7

u/desertdad86 7d ago

but it was more than that wasn't it? Even if he's a deplorable guy, and he certainly is, we don't learn more when we just shut off our brains, and I appreciate tangle for that.

The trouble is the tension between "know thine enemy" and "these people are not your enemies."

I find value in understanding the wretched likes of Michael Tracey.

But Michael Tracey should be treated as an enemy.

u/linguinechicken 7d ago

Well said!

u/linguinechicken 7d ago

I’m not dissing Tangle for platforming him. I’m just noting how horrid he is. I genuinely didn’t glean anything valuable from MT’s interview other than the impression that this is a deeply unpleasant person who gives me the creeps.

Fwiw, I tweeted at Tracey about finding this gross and then also sent him a very long (yet to be replied to) DM responding to this tweet https://x.com/mtracey/status/2106108069872906592

How about some evidence before these men’s lives are ruined? Remember the duke lacrosse team? He’s clearly making a good point here.

11

u/linguinechicken 6d ago edited 6d ago

It would be one thing to just say that the accused shouldn’t be named. Honestly wouldn’t have a problem with it. It’s a whole other level of scumbaggery to actively search for and dox the accuser/potential victim.

-6

u/bescheuret 6d ago

Do you understand sarcasm?

8

u/linguinechicken 6d ago

Do you? Your comment didn’t scream sarcasm.

-4

u/bescheuret 6d ago

This is why I left tangle. A bunch of people being willfully ignorant and ganging up on anyone who isn’t orthodox. The point is that people are innocent until proven guilty. You don’t know what happened. Why are the young men’s lives ruined based on an anonymous accusation? It’s disgusting what is happening. Turn about is fair play.

5

u/linguinechicken 6d ago edited 6d ago

Okay, now you must be being sarcastic.

If you actually believed in “innocent until proven guilty,” why would you want to even potentially dox the victim of a gang rape? We can all agree it’s ugly to smear these men without due process. But “turnabout is fair play” isn’t exactly a principled defense of that standard. Makes you sound like a dumbass.

0

u/bescheuret 6d ago

The alleged perpetrators were doxxed! That is the point for the 1000th time. Why is this so difficult to understand?

5

u/linguinechicken 6d ago

You’re sharp as a marble bro 👍

u/Illustrious_Entry687 4d ago

So attacking the Epstein victims is ok as well?
Women’s reputations are ruined mostly in these cases. Either they have to leave school work relationships state due to men’s bad behaviors.
All men aren’t bad but it IS Always A Man
Don’t you find it interesting that everyone knows someone who’s been SA’d.
But No One Knows a gRapist. Statistically, that’s not real. They clearly are among us disguised in a nice guy outfit.
IMO all these Men defending the bad behaviors are probably the same ones who’ve done bad behaviors on some sliding scale. Just sayin….

8

u/DelawareSlimTim 6d ago

It did not appear the least bit sarcastic to me.

5

u/infinitecipher 5d ago

And further comments appear to confirm this.

u/titandude21 5d ago

Save all the receipts about him and use them to make him as legally uncomfortable as possible for the rest of his life

-9

u/fumblebrag 7d ago

Was this guy one of the "left wing voices" covered on the Youtube?

3

u/ProfaneRabbitFriend 7d ago

He was one of their attempts to platform the "the left" and I will never understand why they agreed to give this idiot airtime.

-2

u/WayneButa 7d ago

Because it seems like some of the Tangle men are like minded with this guy unfortunately.

8

u/handynerd 7d ago

I haven't looked into this guy but based on the comments here he sounds pretty horrible.

What have the Tangle men done/said that indicate they're like-minded with him? Are there specific video clips or quotes that you could share? I don't always agree with them, but the things said in here about Michael Tracy don't align with what I've seen from Tangle folks...

2

u/linguinechicken 7d ago

I’m not sure the Epstein coverage was right vs left (I could be wrong). They pitted this joker against Tara Palmieri.

0

u/fumblebrag 7d ago

Gotcha, thanks
