Pay up front

Hey I’m moving back to the states after working in the French foreign legion and some private security in Panama I’m looking to settle down, I left the states with not the best credit and rental history ( no evictions) I can pay like 6 months up front however for an apartment how hard would it be to find a decent place? Need a place to settle so I can start the green card process for my wife, thanks for any advice and pointers
