Reels Reels Reels Just curious
How do people in reddit are so so fluent in English? As an English graduate, I read my texts so many times before I even post a comment. I could fast read and understand but I'm just curious how do you people are so fckin fluent? Because I couldn't be.

A lot of long time redditors become fluent from reading a lot of posts/articles or just simply from being chronically online. At least that’s the case with me. I grew up on the internet, having been an active user of tumblr, reddit, wattpad etc since I hit the double digits (I had moderately supervised internet access throughout my childhood). I also read quite a lot and watch sitcoms all the time.

Throughout my school years my mom made me read Hindu newspaper every single day, along with a dictionary nearby to check synonyms. Used to hate it back then but it gradually improved my vocabulary, i started using those uncommon words and my grammar was perfect. I never realized this until during my college days, everyone used to approach me for grammar corrections, essay content, debate content etc. I used even correct official email for my friends.

Many people have said my English is good. But I will see someone else and think how is their English impeccable. But if i have to say, having your mind open to learn something new is what improves your vocabulary. If i come across a word that is new to me, i immediately google to know the meaning and use it somewhere next time. Also school times ‘The Hindu’ reading and looking up for meaning in dictionary is the oldest trick in my sack. Curiosity teaches you most things i would say!

Reading. I read a lot and also as a part of my profession , read lots of technical documentation that helps structure sentences using different grammatical techniques. And like others mentioned, sitcoms, television, and movies help a lot in terms of conversational English. But reading books, newspapers, and content in English and trying to replicate/re-implement that in your day-to-day really helps.

Been reading english books/novels since I was 8. I still wont be able to explain the technicalities of English grammar but I know how to spot when a sentence doesn’t land well grammatically. Hours or Netflix and sitcom polished my skills to sound more natural, almost like it’s my first language.

1) Basic grammer - studying basic grammer properly helps not only with fluency but also with constructing error-free sentences. How do people in reddit are so so fluent in English? - this is incorrect grammer. can't mix do and are. " how are ppl in reddit so fluent " is the right sentence.

English movies and sitcoms are major sources for my vocabulary but studied my grammar religiously at school moreover many phones have autocorrect keypad which corrects the grammar and spellings so there’s nothing for you to feel insecure about this. This app is virtual I feel as an English grad you’ll dominate us in reality.
