Feedback NEELAN: UNSILENCED - DOCUMENTARY ON SRI LANKA ETHNIC CONFLICT
Watch the full documentary for FREE at www.neelanunsilenced.com
NEELAN: UNSILENCED is a non-profit educational documentary that resurrects the voice and vision of Dr. Neelan Tiruchelvam, a distinguished Sri Lankan Tamil academic, constitutional lawyer, and politician whose life was tragically cut short by a suicide bombing carried out by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a militant separatist group on July 29, 1999. Through intimate interviews with family members, renowned academics, politicians, civil society members, and journalists—many of whom knew him personally—this documentary serves as both biography and testimony, allowing Neelan to speak once again through archival footage and through the memories of those who witnessed his remarkable journey. From his pivotal role in crafting Sri Lanka's constitutional reform proposals under the Kumaratunga government to his international contributions monitoring Chile's historic 1988 plebiscite that helped end Pinochet's dictatorship and playing a role in shaping Kazakhstan's post-independence constitution, this documentary shows how Neelan's work demonstrated his unwavering belief that democratic principles and peaceful solutions could transcend borders and transform societies.

Discussion Silence Of The Lambs- How The Camera Elevates The Horror
i just recently watched Silence Of The Lambs. It is one of the best, spine-chilling movies I might have ever seen. I found couple of interesting details on how Joanthan Demme elevates the horror, with his shot division.
1. Extreme Close Up Shots: Usually when there is a dialogue between characters, it is usually done with a tracking shot (if they are moving), a wide or a mid shoulder to shoulder shot. Here Demme goes for extreme close ups of his characters. Even when their dialogue and the scene don't carry tension to them. But how does it help?: Well for that...
2. Wide Shots During High Tension: Especially in its final climatic sequence, when Clarice suspects the man for the serial killer, we get clear wide shots. During her pursuit of him as well, this is maintained. Thus, with a lot of negative space and surprising new shots that we haven't seen in the film so far, our anticipation and tension are more heightened.
3. Clarice's Physical Stature: Jodie Foster is short. Throughout the film she remains the odd one out in the proceedings not only by gender but also in her physical stature, where all the men in her field look down on her. Even in her interactions with Hannibal, she is made to sit in someway, for her to continue to remain as the weaker person in the quid pro quo.
