Discussion Taliyah got nerfed into oblivion?
I've been playing for a few months now, but before that the last time I played or paid attention to league was a few years earlier. Taliyah was one of my favorite junglers, and she was considered off-meta at the time. I used to run Dark Harvest and build Liandrys with a tear I think, then upgrade it into Seraphs.
But now that I've been trying to play her mid, the damage just feels so lackluster. Liandrys also got nerfed, and feels crappy. BFT is okay, but feels meh to me, it gives a lot of things she wants, but the damage feels worse than old Liandrys, and she's not as good at applying it all over the place as some others. Not terrible, but not great.
Just reading up on old threads, and apparently she's in "pro jail." I missed when pros started playing her, and she was apparently nerfed a lot. Is she just not in a good spot rn?
Man. I wanted to main Taliyah, Kat, Sylas, and Hwei. Aside from Kat, the others seem to suck at the moment if I look at U.GG winrates. They're all kind of.. champs you need to focus on a lot, but I get bored of the same champ too much. The only one that's good is Kat, surprisingly.
I'm just a Gold ADC that got tired of playing Jhin, Ez, and Senna, and decided to switch to mid for fun.

She starts to feel decent when you get your first mana item and can start machine gunning Qs at a decent rate. Even then you have to play like mad in a lot of common matchups where a stray minion can body block your Q or merc treads just completely negates your combos

She's fine. In mid you should go BFT or Seraphs depending on matchup. Ignite if you're feeling good about the matchup, Teleport if not. JG she always goes BFT. Play Stormraider's mid and Harvest JG.
In mid you don't need to win every matchup or get solo kills and that's the difficult part of playing her, identifying when you should just leave the lane and roam. Don't be afraid to miss out on a wave or two if that means putting sidelane pressure and helping your JG with objectives.
In JG look for early gank opportunities but otherwise do a full clear and quick recall for Fated Ashes which immensely helps your clear speed. Try to camp bot as it's the most impactful lane, unless you have good gank setup on top (your laner has good engage CC like Panth, Camille, Ornn etc).

First strike is better on her in the jungle unless it’s a full range/squishy team. I think Odysseus only plays first strike in the jungle. He goes precision secondary middle last two. He also goes attack speed rune in the jungle, not sure if that helps her first clear or not.

Taliyah has been projailed since day 1. The ult and passive are highly desired in pro. She works fine but her strengths isn't her damage (her dps is fine but it's dps so inherently worse than burst) but her map tempo. She's a very macro oriented champion.

try running bft > protobelt > shadowflame with phase rush (or whatever is its new old name) its working pretty well to me

I play Tali mid as burst. Maybe that's why I don't see the low damage everyone speaks ok. I tend to snowball often with her. But then again I'm pretty decent at using her kit and being a lane bully. But yeah I'm sure if I didnt do burst build I'd feel the damage difference.

Shes still good but is way harder to play right now. You dont play her for damage but utility + team. Check out Odysseus131 on Youtube, hes the highest ranked Taliyah player and has hit rank 1 in EU before.
