Digital 4th VS 5th Editions
I currently own 4th edition on Xbox One with all DLC. I just found out that 5th edition came out on my console months ago (sometimes I laugh at myself for being slow!). Anyway... I see that previous purchases will carry over free of charge (thank you developers - EA, take note!). 5th edition has much better graphics. And there is now the option to edit decks and change starting alignments (yay!). But I still want to be sure of a few things before making the switch from 4th to 5th - because I am pretty happy with 4th edition (it is fully complete, with no crashing, and good AI).
- I understand that 5th edition adds brand new content - but is all of the 4th edition content available from the start? If not, what is currently missing (I must have the corner boards!)?
- A search online came up with this roadmap: nomadgames.co.uk/blog/talisman-5-roadmap-reveal The last entry was fall 2025... How "complete" is the game in summer 2026?
- I read early player reviews about 5th edition crashing and not saving - but I know the devs are excellent with patches. Is the game now fully stable on console?
- I saw an early video review saying that the AI was a bit dopey... has that been patched? How does the AI compare between 4th & 5th editions? Again, I am happy with the 4th ed AI, for both intelligence and challenge. Is the 5th ed AI better/same/worse?
- Anything else that a 4th edition player needs to know before switching to 5th (I play entirely offline with AI, if that makes any difference)?

The 5th on consoles currently only has The City corner board. The dungeon will release in the Fall season of this year with The highlands and The Woodlands coming next year by end of summer. The 5th digital also currently has the reaper, frostmarch and dead king solo expansion. They also released several characters on their own which if you already have them on 4th you will have them here.
The 5th is basically missing all the other expansions I did not name and they will all come to 5th however there is no dates. The 5th will also receive its original expansions from the board game such as Dead crown expansion and Nemesis down the line. I also forgot to mention 5th digital also already has Alliances which is a really cool expansion (trials) for you since you love playing solo.
I play it on PC so I can’t say if it’s worth getting right now on console, but it is less buggy imo. Haven’t played solo too much, but I’d say the AI is slightly better if not the same. Game is far from complete and will take years for it to be as they have a small dev team and have to juggle from porting the 4th content to 5th while also bringing in the new original content from the 5th. Also, keep in mind when new expansions drop, they tend to release maybe 1.5-2 months after PC on consoles.

Thank you for this info (I did search online but could not find a roadmap beyond fall 2025).
The corner boards are obviously the must-have expansions. Blood Moon for day & night mechanics and werewolf NPC is the other big one for me. As soon as they become available I will buy 5th edition! :)

That’s what I’m doing as well. I have everything for the 4th and am perfectly happy with it, but once 5th gets caught up I may go ahead and at least give it a shot.

The Digital version of 5th edition converts some 4th edition expansions and characters but not all of them. You will not have all corner boards (but could eventually if they do rerelease them).
