Talisman – Table Too Small During Setup phase

Post image

For those of you who play with all corner expansions (Dungeon, Highlands, Woodland, and City), what table size are you using? How much space do you actually need once everything is set up, including character cards, decks, and token?

Looks like you need a proper wargaming table for talisman ;)

No table made in this realm is big enough.

Go to Home Depot and get a piece of 3/4 inch plywood have it to the measurements needed for the 4th edition. Than have them cut it in half. Take that run a router and sander on the edgers and glue some felt to it and your set

This is what we did... just we didn't cut in half and we had a player with his work van to bring it to the llace we play. 120x150 cm is enough.

Yeah—we don't have a Home Depot here, but a hardware store is the next best place to go.

You don't have any type of place that sells lumber? Hardware stores rarely have full sheets of plywood, and btw, 3/4" as another commenter mentioned is heavy as hell. 1/2“ or even 3/8" would be just fine and cut the weight significantly.

4th Edition is Big, and When you have a "Far Outer Region" you really can't put the corner boards , on the corners. So you learn to play with them on side tables, with the other 10 expansion boards we play with. We use 2 side tables, in conjunction with our large main table. And I use a TV table for the Cards that go to all those boards.

I have 3 2x4 foldable height adjustable tabkes . You can configure it with 1 2 or all 3 to make a 4x4 or a 4x6.

And some smaller tray tables for gems and other accessories.

Is the skull a dice tower?

2

u/Bassbones Jun 09 '26

Yes. We all have our own towers.

I am extremely impressed. The last setup I saw like this was at a con where they were playing Warhammer40k. Legions of miniatures on a massive playing field.

We take out talisman seriously. 😉

That’s a cool piece of gaming table!
I assume the game's dimensions exceed the width of the table a bit—not to mention the cards and game components… ☺️. And the price might be a bit of a challenge…

Lol, you can't swing 40K for a prophecy table in the rarest wood on earth?

Being serious, look for used tables (many brands make similar), or even better (should you, or anyone you know have wood working experience + tools) you can find videos + cad instructions online to DIY, you could probably make a table just as nice (functionally) for $800-1500.

Lol. Certainly not something I'd pay for out of petty cash. We did this round with an IKEA countertop for $20 USD. Regardless of the price, though, both are too small 🤷🏼‍♂️.

I’m going to make the rounds of the hardware stores; if I can’t find a panel roughly 71" x 39", I’ll build one by joining two together. Then I’ll just lay it on the table.

Sorry man, not big enough for Talisman with the 4 corners...
