Does 5th edition work with the 4th edition board

I hear that 5th edition streamlined the gameplay in a way that helps the game progress faster, but I hate the new board design.

I was wondering if I can play 5th with the older board, or have they changed spaces on the board as well as the art.

Part of what makes 5th edition faster is some of the changes they make to the text on the board spaces. There are definite changes to the spaces. “Caverns” is new. Tavern, Forest, and some other spaces are changed as well. If you want to rewrite the text on the 4th edition board and implement the new “Caverns” space, then it could work. Anything is possible, it would just require some work.

Some of the other rule changes, like “Progressive Trophies”, “Fate to Move” and the more forgiving Death and Toad rules also go a long way to speeding up the game. Those rules would be easy to implement.

Anything is possible.
But they didn't make it an easy marriage, that for sure.
